Mutley Posted June 22 Author Posted June 22 Update...all fitted...used Bandit inlet rubbers...velocity stacks and air socks... ...and she is like a different bike...loads more stomp...worked pretty much out of the box... My only concern now...is how the hell do you get to the balancer outlets once they are on the bloody bike......as the ones for 2 and 3 are down tight behind the engine... 1 Quote

You balance flat slides off the bike. Use a small drill bit under the slide to make sure they're all even, adjuster is under the cap. Quote

OK...but they also have outlets for a set of carb balancers...and this has to be done on the bike surely...? Quote

Nope, the adjusters are under the tops of the carbs, kinda hard to adjust with the bike running. RS carbs are supposed to be balanced on a work bench, not on the bike. 1 Quote

Maybe one of these days I'll attempt it if they're still noticeably off with the bike running. Quote
rodneya Posted June 27 Posted June 27 The manual that came with my RS carbs telly you to bench sync before installing to get them in the ballpark, and then use a vacuum gauge to set them while running. Those little carb top screws can be really hard to find if you drop one. Ask me how I know. Quote
Mutley Posted September 6 Author Posted September 6 The adjustment whilst running is no issue to be honest...it is trying to get the vacuum hoses on the front of the carbs...2 and 3 cylinder...the outlets are hidden down between the csrbs and the engine...just wondered if anyone had a certain trick, or special tool they had made to get the rubber caps off, and back on...my sausage hands just won't fit... I gave up trying to use the vacuum ports on the carbs. My motor is aircooled so there are easier to get to ports on the head. I was going to add a short piece of hose to each nipple on the carb sticking up enough to easily get at while tuning and then put vacuum caps on the lines. Quote

Carbtune used to offer threaded brass spigots with covers to mount permanently on the inlets to accommodate vacuum guages. These are most useful for people who aren't trained gynocologists with fingers like ET.
