redgs1000 Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 Took the swingarm back off to fit the chain slider , had to trim it back 7 mm to match the tophat also the jack up block on the chain side needed a bit of work to line up. 2mm off the bottom and round the edges a bit now its lined up fine 3 Quote
Tony Nitrous Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 Thanks for the updates redgs1000. I’m enjoying watching the build. Im running lift blocks on one of my borderline OSS bikes. Have’nt tried different shocks yet, they took a little getting used to. Going from a 190/50 to a 200/50 or 190/55 wasn’t enough lift, adding the blocks with a taller tyre was too much so now I’m on blocks and back to a 190/50. Internet experts tell me to just get the right length shocks…. LOL. 1 Quote

Did you have to modify the blocks to fit ? mine were machined well but as you can see the profile doesn't match the original mounts, if you bought the correct length shocks that would take all the fun out . Took the wheels off today for powder coating along with the headlight brackets i cut down , also top yoke is getting a few mm off as not much thread for the stem nut/washer , will put some more pics up soon once ive got bit more done . Thanks for your encouragement on my project 1 Quote

Thanks for your encouragement on my project Mine went straight on. It was a while back but I don’t remember any dramas, 10 minute job. Took me a while to get used to them, the riding position and steering feel etc all felt odd initially, now it feels normal and a stock 14 feels like a chopper to me, I wouldn’t go any higher on the bike that’s using them. I keep an eye out for a 14 arm for another project I have but they aren’t common or cheap here. 1 Quote
redgs1000 Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Wheels stripped and headlight brackets dropped off for powder coating. Top yoke has had 4mm taken off as wasnt much of the stem coming through and while the front end is apart il get the lock stops sorted 4 Quote
redgs1000 Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 Had a spare 5mins so cut the original lock stop off the frame . Should be able to reposition it and do something with the bottom yoke to make it work 3 Quote
redgs1000 Posted May 28, 2023 Author Posted May 28, 2023 Got the wheels and headlight brackets back last week . New wheel bearings going in and some tyre;s to be fitted this week as got a few days off, looks like il have to sort the fuel tap position will check it again tomorrow 1 Quote
redgs1000 Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 Bit spare time today. Refitted the old lock stop after some reshape and found some gsxr clutch spacers , going to tap and mount them on the bottom yoke . Any ideas on a petrol tap that will clear the frame 1 Quote
wraith Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 If you're using a vacuum tap, probably not. Some of the gs850/1000g tanks have the fuel tap near the front instead of right at the back. I think it's the yam r6 tap that fits and is a standard on/off tap. 1 Quote

redgs1000 Posted June 5, 2023 Author Posted June 5, 2023 Got the lock stops done today as had a bit spare time. Now i can get the front end on ,headlight, clocks etc, good to see it back on its wheels soon 3 Quote
redgs1000 Posted June 23, 2023 Author Posted June 23, 2023 Bit more work on the front today. Been bit slow last few weeks as making use of the good weather for weekend bike runs , will get the finger out and should have the front more or less done next few weeks 3 Quote
redgs1000 Posted July 5, 2023 Author Posted July 5, 2023 Headlamp bowl back on and most of the loom connected. Gave it a quick rub down and a splash of silver to tidy it up, next thing need to find a master cylinder and make some spacers for the fork brace to get some clearance over the tyre. 3 Quote
redgs1000 Posted July 22, 2023 Author Posted July 22, 2023 Got the front mudguard on with some spacers today. Will be coming off later to tidy up the edges and a coat of paint, got a front master cylinder sorted so will have brakes again soon next job will be to get some plates welded on for the foot pegs. 4 Quote

Brother your build is spot on. Very nice and I'm following with interest. Curious what front fender/mudguard you're using? I have a similiar set up using the slingshot fender and ended up grinding some of the fork lugs down to clear the mudguard. I need the clearance for an 18" front wheel, and a 17" front fender 1 Quote

Got the mudguard off Eblag no234567951216 £25 + p&p they do them in black or white and are very good for the price, just need the edges cleaned up a bit or more than good enough to fit and use. I used the bandit brace and made some spacers to clear the tyre, will make a new brace up later as the original bolt holes are to far apart but at the moment im just getting everything to fit . if you need any measurements let me know 1 Quote
redgs1000 Posted August 23, 2023 Author Posted August 23, 2023 Got bit more done in between work. Templates cut out for footrest mounts and picking some alloy plate up sat, new exhaust ready to go on once there fitted and case's polished 2 Quote
redgs1000 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Did wee bit on the casings before new exhaust go's on. 3 Quote
redgs1000 Posted August 30, 2023 Author Posted August 30, 2023 Got the exhaust on to see how it fits. Apart from having to twist the back round so the bracket clears the wider swingarm it looks ok Ive left the no4 front pipe loose as was pulling the collector on to the frame, centre stand is off now so il mount a bracket from there once thats done no4 pipe will be persuaded to go in 3 Quote
redgs1000 Posted September 5, 2023 Author Posted September 5, 2023 Exhaust now on after making a support bracket. Bit heavy but will do for now before a full strip down, the no4 front pipe went on fine after the exhaust was bolted up 2 Quote
redgs1000 Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 Picked up some alloy plate for the footrest brackets bit heavy but least it wont flex . Got a bit polish on the footrests before cutting out the brackets Quote
redgs1000 Posted October 31, 2023 Author Posted October 31, 2023 Haven't posted any pics lately as got a new phone and cant work the f--king thing. Got the plates cut out roughly and mounted now need to try put a bit of a shape to them and a polish, the foot peg holes will need reshaped so the pegs will line up straight Quote
redgs1000 Posted October 31, 2023 Author Posted October 31, 2023 Still cant work this fucking phone. Will try put other pics up later away to calm down before another phone ends up in the bin 1 Quote
redgs1000 Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 Here is the last of the pics off the old phone when was mocking up the foot pegs. Quote
