makuni cv carbs for a gs550 v gs750 carbs

Hi all does anyone know if the gs550 makuni cv carbs are the same fitting as the gs750 .

i am really strugling to find a set of carbs for my 1980 gs550l

The GS750 only had slide carbs, so they won't fit.

just seen these on Eblag thats why i asked       Eblag item number 165608687054  he says there of a gs750 but will fit many other models 550 650 850 & 1000

but im not sure thats why im asking the experts here

Not so! Both types fitted through the years. A set of 750 carbs might be 'able' to fit a 550 but getting it to run correctly is another issue!

The 550, 750, 1000 all had different spacing, so a set of 750 or 850 carbs (whether CV or not) won't fit your 550, never will a set of gs1000 fit a gs550.

The gs650 CV carbs will fit, will run a little rich but you could always fit the gs650 top end on to your gs550 bottom end  that would solve the 650 carbs being rich

That they fit won't say it will run properly.

My bike (1250cc) didn't want to run properly on GSX750 carburfuckingettors, had to buy a set of a 1100

When on Eblag page, just right click on mouse and select 'Translate' - may not be perfect but generally close enough!

The second generation, with 16 valves, were called GSX in most countries. Including the UK, where both I and the original poster are from.

Also, there's a clue in the bit where I say "Show me an 8 valve GS750......"
