spiderpig Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 (edited) Anyone know if the o rings for the body of the starter motor are suzuki weird sizes or available from normal suppliers? Same question for the o ring joining starter motor and alternator to the cases? Edited July 19, 2022 by spiderpig Quote
Dezza Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 If they're anything like the ones for the Blandit 12 (the large ones for the motor body) then they are square section and expensive when bought from Suzuki. I would be very surprised if there is a generic alternative. It's not impossible but in my experience rarely does a generic o'ring fit 100 % correctly or perform as well as the OEM item This holds not only for big, old Suzukis but other Jap bikes too. Quote
clivegto Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Think @fatblokeonbanditfound a alternative for the alternator. Quote
Joseph Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 (edited) This is what you need for the alternator https://www.123roulement.com/joints-OR-83X2-NBR70 Edited July 19, 2022 by Joseph 1 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 the suzuki ones are 2,3 x 87 OD, almost impossible to find, i use these from simply bearings, 4 quid for 2. https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/Seals-O-Ring-Seals-NITRILE-O-Rings/c19_4501_4705/index.html?selection=Nitrile+Rubber+O-Rings 2 Quote
Joseph Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 (edited) Yep that does confirm my previous post Starter motor O rings : on the 29.9mm shaft motor : 24.5x3 On the 39.9mm shaft motor : 34x3 the norm for O-ring measure being the ID x thickness it is obviously possible for this kind of fitment to use round instead of square section rings, oil leakage if any cannot be major Edited July 19, 2022 by Joseph Quote
