Kraptanaman Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 What do I need to go into the bottom of the engine. The adaptors and the take offs. I have everything else. Unless anybody knows where i can get complete ones with black fittings. Quote
Gixer1460 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Is the engine a GSX1100 or a GSX1100 EFE? The former didn't have an oil cooler, the latter did - although considering the size of them, what good they did is debatable! The oil filter cover on the EFE's is different to allow for the oil unions and divert the oil through the cooler. Quote
Kraptanaman Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 It is for the gsx1100. I am refitting a cooler and want to replace the lines. I got pirtec to make my last lines but they were more suited to a tractor. My Iines before theta were an10. To bulky and very 90,s. So I am going black hose finishing. Quote
johnr Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 you can take feeds to the cooler from either the bolts either side of the oil filter covr, or else from the oil pressure switch takeoff behind the number 4 cylinder on the right side of the engine. if you use the oil filter cover bolts, you need a way to force the oil to go up to the cooler or else it will just short circuit round inside the filter. there are two ways to do this. either use an efe (1135) filter cover which has a restrictor on the inside that prevents the oil from going straight through the filter and skip the cooler, this has a small gap in the casting to allow some oil flow in case the filter gets clogged. alternatively, some aftermarkeet cooler kits came with a small alloy plug that went into the oilway under the filter cover that has a round hole to accept it, the blanking plug again has a small hole through the middle to allow oil to pass if the filter gets blocked. this plug is designed to be used with a standard gsx11(1075cc) oil filter cover. you need one or the other, easiest is to use the efe cover cos its simpler way. I have all this John. What I am needing it the size threaded part that goes into the engine for the hose to attach to so I can fit an8 instead of an10. The rest I will be able to sort out. Quote
Arttu Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 I'm about 99% sure it's M14x1.5 thread. 1 Quote

Yes, I just double checked, definitely M14x1.5. (EFE engine) M14x1.25 is indeed used on several other places like main oil gallery plug and rocker shaft plugs but the cooler take-offs are an exception. 2 Quote
