Just bought this project bike, have the reg number but need to apply for a v5, frame number starts gs75x- then six numbers, is this the right format for this bike, it's on the dvla database as first used 03/04/80m i believe it to be a et model as i've had a few gs's and it's the slightly later one.

Any help much appreciated!

Welcome to OSS,

Yes that a gsx et (y) so what's the plans for it?

As Wraith says it's an ET, but it's got an 1100 swing arm and it looks like 1100 clocks. 7/11 maybe?

why would it have a 1100 swinging arm does it allow a wider tyre?

The 1100 swing arm is a better, stiffer swing arm than the steel tube 750 one. Also easyer to get a more modern 4.5" rear wheel in if you wanted ;)

Tanks come up on Eblag now and again, keep in mind there are two types the UK type (which is what you want ;)) and the USA type which is smaller.

Seats are hard to find.

xD

With the swing arm you have a bandit 600 rear wheel.

As for USD forks, early gsxr slingshot are the longest but have a look through the project pages as lots of different things in there ;)

It is 750cc engine and I think someone painted it black. I'm not expert, but at least what I have seen only later ones were originally black. Also Chrome caps on cylinder head look like early gsx.

The 1100 engines all have a oil way with a chrome 17mm but in the end above the ATU cover, the 750 engines don't ;) easy way to tell without eng numbers :)

Something new each day! Again  one thing to check in these old Suzuki's
