nickyboy.4 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Just bought this project bike, have the reg number but need to apply for a v5, frame number starts gs75x- then six numbers, is this the right format for this bike, it's on the dvla database as first used 03/04/80m i believe it to be a et model as i've had a few gs's and it's the slightly later one. Any help much appreciated! Quote
no class Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 a picture or even a stick-man drawing would help 1 Quote

nickyboy.4 Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 Not thought that much about it-get it running first also need a tank and seat, why would it have a 1100 swinging arm does it allow a wider tyre? Quote

The 1100 swing arm is a better, stiffer swing arm than the steel tube 750 one. Also easyer to get a more modern 4.5" rear wheel in if you wanted Quote
stockcar Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) And pretty much a direct swap so a common 'upgrade' Edited December 23, 2018 by stockcar Quote
nickyboy.4 Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 That's nice to know but i think i'll have to get it running first but definitely a nice blank canvas Quote
nickyboy.4 Posted December 24, 2018 Author Posted December 24, 2018 If you know anybody selling a tank and seat for one or any idea of replacements please let me know! Quote
wraith Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Tanks come up on Eblag now and again, keep in mind there are two types the UK type (which is what you want ) and the USA type which is smaller. Seats are hard to find. Quote
nickyboy.4 Posted December 26, 2018 Author Posted December 26, 2018 you've got me thinking now, what wheel would i actually need and length wise what are the closest usd forks off a suzuki i could fit? thanks for your help by the way Quote
wraith Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 With the swing arm you have a bandit 600 rear wheel. As for USD forks, early gsxr slingshot are the longest but have a look through the project pages as lots of different things in there Quote
gsx1100e Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Whats the beginning of your black engines number? Quote
nickyboy.4 Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 The number starts GS75X-100*** Does that mean anything to you? Quote
gsx1100e Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 It is 750cc engine and I think someone painted it black. I'm not expert, but at least what I have seen only later ones were originally black. Also Chrome caps on cylinder head look like early gsx. Quote
wraith Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 The 1100 engines all have a oil way with a chrome 17mm but in the end above the ATU cover, the 750 engines don't easy way to tell without eng numbers Quote
