  1. Yea I figured just get the main jet right and I wont need the powerjet. Bike isn't a 14000 rpm screamer after all. More than 80% throttle on a road going b12 is not exactly very frequent or long in duration. Pretty sure mine feels too lean though. on 155s. I'n fact I'm certain. It kept running better and better as I lifted the needle up until it's all the way up now. whack the throttle in 3rd or 4th and it makes the woofy woof woof airy sound. Not the fat sparky rich sound. First thing I'm gonna change now is just the filters. With the intake stacks. See what that does and go from there Mine did not seem to like the stock needles and springs at all. Maybe I'll try them again in a day or 2 here. For now I'm tired of dicking with them. Had the tank and carbs on and off quite a few times over the weekend. The bike runs ok ish now. I'm taking a little break.
  2. Yes same here in the us. These arent bandit carbs though. they are a set of 91 gsxr750 slingshot carbs we're talking about. bst38ss. not bst36ss. Setting up 1991 (and 1992 in the us) gsxr 750 slingshot carbs on a bandit. Thats what is going on here. They are a slight upgrade. Slightly bigger.
  3. Yep that did it. I dont know if it was the springs or the needles that were needed but it's better now. Dj needles and springs and then I had to pull the float vent hoses. So pretty much all I had to do setup wise was completely swap over the stage 3 kit. And then it was simply lean in the midrange until I raised the dynojet needle all the way up which pretty much means I could use a bigger main. Pretty sure 155 is whats in there. And I have the fuel screws like 4 1/2 or 5 turns out to get it crisp off the bottom. So Perhaps could use a size up on the pilots as well. They are 32.5 on mine. indeed those are the little guys. probably 35s would be perfect. Just that little bit more. Or maybe just try the bigger mains first... slight overlap and whatnot. But I do have the 89 cams supposedly. So... I had to fit the vacuum actuator thingy off of the gsxr petcock onto the bandit petcock. Which involved grinding down 2 tiny little 1 millimeter plastic posts so the gasket fit flush... you'll see what I mean if you do this. The plastic sandwich piece. Has 2 little guide posts on it that the gsxr vacuum port does not have holes for. grind those down so the gasket fits nice and flush. Then you'll need to grind down just a bit of metal off of the petcock indicator between the on and prime positions. So it clears the #2 diaphragm cap. T fitting for the fuel hoses and thats about it. And yes it is noticeably faster now and sounds meaner. I dont feel any huge deficiencies that I'm not confident about curing with a little more fine tuning. There we go. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
  4. I still have the box and instructions with my dyno jet kit. It is the stage 1 or stage 3 combo kit. For stage 3 there are a choice of 155 and 150 anyway I think the dynojet needles and springs took care of it. Whichever main jets those are the american gsxr needles and soft springs did not agree with them. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out. It was about midnight when I swapped the needles and got it back together. I let it idle for a few seconds gave it a few small barks and I think It's getting there.
  5. After cleaning the pilots I got it idling great at 3 1/2 turns out on the screws. But it blabbers and sputters when i try to give it throttle. Tried pulling the vent hoses. I think that made it worse but still having them back on it's not quite right either way. The diaphragms looked perfectly fine. The only mains I had for the moment are DJ 155 out of my bandit carbs. They fit... I figured they should at least get down the road. Now I'm thinking I should go ahead and try the DJ springs and needles also. Or maybe just the springs. Or do I need to break down and actually buy a jet kit for a 1991 gsxr 750. Or perhaps just some proper mikuni main jets and not DJ ones.
  6. Yea. noticeably faster. Thats what I'm talkin about. lol.
  7. you really think they're gonna be that bad?
  8. Sorry I didn't mean to be abrasive with that whole schtick. Just jokin around. Anyway I have the gsxr parts bike sitting around anyway. Figured it's worth a try. And then another try with the stacks and ramair filters. I'm having fun swapping them over making them fit. I actually got to grind something with my bench grinder I forgot I had.
  9. I dont care if its peaky. I want more peak horsepower. Cuz I'm a MAYUHN!!! Also those examples you cited were both 5 or 6 mm of difference you guys were swapping between... I'm just fitting bst38s instead of 36s. Just a wee bit bigger. I bet it's still plenty rideable (several people saying they work great). Soon enough I'm going to try the stock intake stacks with ramair filter setup. I hear that works much better than pods. Restore some of that response.
  10. My bandit needs a new pet cock. A smaller one. Does anybody know any other bikes I can use the pet cock off of that takes up less space under the tank? perhaps a bandit 600 one.
  11. What did you do about the pet cock issue.
  12. Ok so the gsxr pet cock does not fit the tank. I need a new low profile pet cock for my bandit tank. Preferably one that is still vacuum operated so it works all nice and stock like... Disregard this post... I figured that shit out. It's on the first post.
  13. Well whatever it was. An entire new clutch system took care of it. lol. simple.
  14. Ok so far there has been.. a minor re routing of the spark plug wires to make the little black filtery box thingy fit. #2 and #4 wire are now over the throttle cable. There is only one throttle cable now... I'm pretty sure I need the pet cock off of the gsxr 750. Edit: NO IT DOES NOT FIT!!! The bandit one hits against the #2 diaphragm cap (These carbs are taller). pet cock rests on the diaphragm lid just before you can bolt it in. The fuel hoses do not fit just in front of the k&ns. You have to either squeeze them in behind the brace thingy or get longer ones and run them all the way down around the filters.
  15. how the hell do you even get the airbox out of a 750m anyway...
  16. I think "do I need one? do they really get that hot that I need to wire up a guage and monitor it?" was the question.
  17. Then sometimes theres other factors like for example canadian gsxr 1100w had 40mm carbs but here in US we still got stuck with 36s. While even our 750 still had 38s. But its the same engine. Same valve settings. It's just waiting for you to find a set of 40mm canadian model carbs to be put on. Basically just because the bandit (which is a budget bike btw... built well but cheap...) came with 36 doesn't mean those are the absolute optimum carbs for the bike
  18. A handful of people from OSS saying they work is good enough for me to try it anyway. Just because 36 is all it came with doesn't mean the engine couldn't run better with bigger ones. Its not always just a ported big bore big valve engine that needs bigger carbs. Sometimes you can just put bigger carbs on the same stock bike and it will go faster... I was making some needed changes to my bst36ss's only to realize I rounded off the head of one of the pilots. Well it just so happens I have a 750m parts bike in my garage. So this kindof got changed from a backburner "some day i'll try it" idea to a necessity overnight.
  19. the previous owner of the 750 wildly spraypainted over a few things. so those intake screws are in there pretty damn good. I need a massive phillips bit. we'll get there.
  20. Roger that. I'll try the 155. I have 89 750 cams. 5 degree advancer (holeshot). K&n (ru2922s...). And my bike even now with the 36s seems to like the 155. hey I have another curiosity though... Over on customfighters I saw someone rather knowledgeable about suzukis make this post..." rather than K&N filters get ram air foam filters and fit them over standard airbox rubbers , you'll get a much better set up on the carbs ". now this was regarding bst36 I believe but I wish he would have elaborated on which filters are the ones exactly. And then also the same question but for bst38ss of course... I wonder if we've all been doing it wrong with these k&ns.
  21. Also here in the states of course we didn't get the special "power jets". I could install them but stock is zero. Does yours have the powerjet thingys?
  22. O ok I didn't realise they were separated. I thought maybe one fuel line was seperate for reserve for whatever reason. Also what air filters? Please link to the exact ones. US friendly if possible. I'm gonna go have another look tomorrow. It seems this one hose came off with the carbs but it's not... with... the carbs. It's just kindof run through them for some reason... We'll get this straightened out. You've been tremendous already. thank you.
  23. Pretty sure it was the master. Failed in such a way that it wasnt allowing anything to return. I'm not entirely sure though. I ended up taking the master, sprocket cover, clutch basket, and clutch discs out of a parts bike and throwing all that stuff in. And now it works. But I think it was the master...
