  1. The race alternator kits that Durbahn.de sell are based around Ducati ST3?4? alternators - they're an aluminium hub with rare earth magnets in it - 75mm diameter, ~20mm wide, with the coils run around them (Bevel Ducati guys use them as a bolt in upgrade in their old shitters). There's enough room before you hit magnets to bore them out big enough to slide over the hub of the small crank GSX alternator, and clamp them with a stepped washer under the crank nut. would be the absolute lightest alternator you could run, very narrow too. Converting to a modern sprag clutch is interesting - I was just looking at the item out of a SV650 wondering if it could be used...
  2. So long stroke is an 18mm pin and short stroke is a 19mm pin?
  3. I run the "CR" compound Road Attacks - they're classic endurance race compound ones - they're excellent as a sticky road tyre. Haven't tried the non race compound Contis, so can't comment on them. I know some guys swear by Avon AM22s i think they are - but I have no experience with them.
  4. Fair enough - never really paid much attention to the little oil boilers, been playing with aircooled stuff mainly. What are the pin sizes?
  5. So I know the easy option is slotting an 1100/1200 into them, but how far can you take a slabby 750 motor? Obviously adding in 750 short stroke barrels/pistons/head would help, but what sort of hp can be expected from a hot one?
  6. Bugger - was hoping for alloy!
  7. The centres of EFE stock discs, are they alloy or steel?
  8. The other trick is using an EFE ignition cover, and drilling a hole in it for the end of the ignition shaft.
  9. I think the issue with beefing up the ignition cover is it makes it much more likely to snap the mounting bosses out of the case - having said that, Back on the old forum one of the guys was offering heavy duty billet ignition covers (with a flat machined off it for better ground clearance) - Can't remember his name - Kiwi fella that was racing a GS1000 (I think his business got bought out, and then he went working on the oil rigs?). He also did neoprene cam cover seals for both types of GSX1100 cam covers and GS1000 (but not EFE). There was also a guy here in Oz doing a cast Magnesium replica of the Yosh ignition cover - much thicker. Bit of a different case for the Alternator side -plenty of bolts to hold that fucker on, but either drag type plates or modified stockers seems to be the common fitment here - never seen anything aftermarket.
