  1. yeah ive just finished it, cleaned it all with brake fluid and an airline, so should be sweet. it wasn't too bad to be honest because its hardly done anything since I last changed it previous owner has managed to mangle the screws which hold the thin crappy tin cover that goes over the cylinder,. I improvised with a rubber seal to keep the crap out of the cylinder Pic above was the right way round by the way. I gueaa that's the problem with laptop in house, clutch in garage and a shite memory ha ha
  2. Thanks for answering but ive since realised its actually on the wrong way /. I was looking at it back to front after taking off the cover, and looking at it from behind. I said it was facing in towards the engine in the pic but its actually facing out. makes sense now duh. the wide part of the seal gets pushed by the fluid, moving the cylinder and pushrod.. thanks anyway. I'm off for a lie down
  3. Hello Suzuki perverts, ive got a question about the clutch for you to hopefully answer. My old clutch was leaking at the clutch release cylinder, so I ordered up a new rebuild kit. Unfortiunately I didn't take note of which way the rubber seal was facing when I took it out. (about a year or two ago ahem) I replaced it, with the rubber lip pointing IN towards the engine (see pic), which I kinda presumed would be right as it would slide in when the clutch lever was pulled , but it was still leaking afterwards. Before I replace it the other way round, and bleed the clutch etc etc, can someone tell me which way the rubber seal points? Is it towards the engine/pushrod or away from it? My head hurts............Thanks
  4. ive started my spare TL bodywork this week. ive got as far as filling out the dents, priming it and base coating it silver. I'm thinking about a retro yoshimura red and grey type design, but that's just todays lates idea, which means I will probably change my mind by tea time. oh if anyone is thinking about trying out some painting themselves - don't ever use halfrauds wet and dry, its utter garbage. Get yourself some 3m stuff and thank me later reason for posting is because I'm still looking for a Tl1000s mudguard, to complete the kit. Anyone got one for sale? please?
  5. you forgot the mudguard ! Only joking I'm sure its there. Nice starter, upgraded front and back end will save you some dosh.
  6. very sad news. I remember his runt build and race antics well. sad loss to the oldskool community
  7. thanks, I may well take you up on that. ive cleared this twice, and it looks shit, , like seriously shit. I'm using a ultra high build clear, and altho it warns not to overload it, I overloaded it. doh. its weird stuff, it goes on and looks like theres not enough material, but if you leave it, it all flows together. ive used it before last year with no problems, so god knows. but it was a bit warmer, only a few degrees tho, not a huge amount. so today after flatting it all back with 800, I deliberately cut back the fluid, and upped the pressure very slightly, because it was obviously putting on too much, tested a small panel, oh perfect, looks good, so onto the big stuff, and the feckin gun starts spitting out shit, clogging at the tip, so it was spraying a nice fan one minute, next nothing, next everything fucksakes.looks crap. I stopped and cleaned out the gun - nothing was found- obviously, so again go knows. painting?, you can stick it up yer arse lol so tomorrow will be spent sanding itback with 800grit
  8. ah....................... yes, ..................................bike you say.............................., its er,............................in the shed....................... its in bits. I need a couple of engine mounting brackets welded on , but I cant weld, and have no money spare just now, so it will have to wait. I could stick it on the frame for an idea what it will look like once its cleared I suppose I knowi should have left the paint till everything else was done, but I had the paint, and I have the time (signed off work due to fuct knee=70 odd quid a week, hence - no cash)
  9. in the North east, beside Elgin
  10. no for sure we cant, just send it up, and I will do it lol. remember and box it up well and use cash to stop the tank and panels from getting damaged i'll sort it out lol.
  11. ah........... go on then......................................... twisted me arm big tank ET done, just to be cleared and of course, tank badges screwed back on. its my favourite so far........................................which is nice. just got a TL to do, and I think ive got another efe bodykit lying about somewhere. then I'm done!
  12. its almost done, anyone wanna see some pics? or are you all bored to death with my painting shenanigans?
  13. big ET tank and panels next wek hopefully, if this weather f*cks off. it keeps me out of trouble. - mostly
  14. hello fellow air cooled heads.# this weeks paintwork post. cos I know you love them, really. This week I have mostly been trying out a design on my small tank ET before going headlong into the big tank version. It was looking good till I removed the fineliine to discover theblack basecoat has come off in places with it. It was painted black ages ago and I should have cleared it, but foolishly thought, ah f*ck it, it'll be fine. So on the upside, it will give me a chance to practice touch ups with my airbrush, . it was all looking so good to, is had a coat of etch primer, 2 of primer filler, black base, silver over for marbiliser, 5 coats candy red, then white Its loosely based on gs 1000s design, and I like it, so it will get fixed
  15. thanks for the kind words. Just to prove it doesn't always go to plan, I started taking off the fineline, to re-mask it, and lo, as I peeled the fineline back, a couple of small sections of the black stuck rather too well to the fineline and made a break for freedom - oh fucn great. Gave me a chance to break out the airbrush for a quick cover up job tho. I'm no airbrush artist tho, I just use of for fading off lines when I can be bothered , and can barely use the bloody infernal thing. it was a cheapo, and I guess you get what you pay for with these things. ive had it apart loads of times, but it is spotless inside, it just works when it feels like it. luckily tonight it felt like it, er eventually. like I said, this is just a f*ck about, I am just trying out a design for the proper job,, next week hopefully. will post a pic when this is done, see what you think.
  16. sneaky peeky of E ET. so far, its had etch primer, primer filler, black base, then silver for marble, then 5 coats candy red . think it needs another coat of candy to be honest, sothats tomorrow sorted, then fineline mask out black base for final coat which will be either white or silver, havnt decided, I just make it up as I go.lol
  17. As long as they are cutting it in properly lol. did you ever get a spray gun SiBag?. I'm on my ET, well its more of a f*ck about on a small tank ET, just trying out a few things, this week. so far I'm liking it, in a gs thou s , candy over marble kinda way. will post some pics when its done, before doing the "proper" tanked ET
  18. Thanks Maurice. I'm doing the ET now, pics in about a week or so. something different, its got some red in it. candy red that is.
  19. looks much better with a graphic or three. tried tilting the tank one up at the back, but it looked pish, so it got levelled. time for some clear.
  20. ive been called worse mate ha ha
  21. I used to have a matt black TL. and my god ........I loved that bike..... ive just ordered up some more decals, Suzuki outline in white, should break up the expanse of blue on it. Probably take a week to arrive in the Northern wastelands, . Looking at the pics, the blue looks darker in real life, weird.....
  22. the first one was too Disney frozen, the second one would have ended up with a penis drawn on its tank, or , heaven forbid, been compared to a hongay, so the 3rd one is the one I'm keeping (for today anyway lol). I'm actually quite happy with this scheme, is basic, but should pop when cleared, as the blue is a metallic mix. (doesn't show up well in pics) I was gonna do this one in the first place, but thought it was too plain...sometimes plain is best its a keeper, for sure,......maybe
  23. I'm running out of paint ha ha.
