What do they think to your bike, especially after your sand racing result.

They did a feature on it and what ive done with it a bit ago. Think there going to either do somthing or let me do a piece on Pendine this year.

They are coming round to featuring more interesting older stuff, and stuff people do with their bikes, not just bits on the bike itself.

Plenty of interesting bikes on here Rob

Im trying to get them to do a bit on drag racing, an possibly turbo bikes. Trouble is it needs to be magazine relevant, they do a bit of older stuff but mainly like newer sports stuff.

    Im working on it

Ok boys and girls, we will have someone from Practical Sportsbike Magazine coming along on the day, they are also going to give it a mention in the mag as well and hopefully a little feature on the Dyno Day.

    Hopefully its not Jim lol

  4. I know im not running big power, ive had no issues at all using the stock internal wastegate. I have just swapped the actuator for an upgraded one. I use a simple variable electronic boost controller that just restricts the flow to the actuator to set my boost. Never had any boost creep issues at all.

I'm hoping that with some fresh fuel (and not the half and half fresh and premix i put in it the other day ) it should start and do what it's supposed to do now i've sealed the float bowl tee's and put the choke bar stopper on

Fingers crossed mate. Trip to a good dyno on the cards?

  7. Same as Jonny i use them more for peace of mind, i check valve clearnces regularly so its no extra work keeping on top of the tensioner too.

State of tune imho has no real effect on the tensioner, pretty much hardest its going to work is revving the engine  in neutral as thats when it will pickup the revs quickest.

  8. Good luck trying to get the sprocket offset sorted, 10mm difference between oil cooled and busa/TL/srad/k-series wheels.

Can be done on 5.5 wheels, think chain run will be touch and go on 6"

And personally if your planning on big power and torque I wouldnt trust the thin dymag carrier area and silly little doughnut cush drives to be up to the task, especially if machined down

Not all the oil ways have copper washers the outside one's are steel.

Ahh thats it, seal to stop oil leaking out on the studs that run externally, and domed nuts to stop it too. Knew it was somthing like that.

I'd say yes - use them. With GSXR's there are copper washers fitted (obviously for some peculiar reason!) which the APE nuts can't substitute! + it stops the nuts galling on the seating within the head.

Copper washers are on the studs that the oil ways pass up. Softer and Makes sure they seal properly and not bleed oil pressure off iirc

  11. 20190130_154936.jpgGranted this i a bit exagerated and it probably doesnt have a huge effect in reality, but its still quite a difference using a head made for a 73mm bore on an engine thats 79mm bore or 81mm, i would still much rather have a ported and skimmed stock head over a Dot head.

Ok no firm opinion here but I asked this on another thread once

"Question I've been meaning to ask would you not have to machine out the squish band to match the new cylinder diameter?

I would think the sharp edge would create a hot spot in the chamber"

    And I got the reply

The squish isn't any different to an 1100 head, the chamber is shallower though which raises the compression ratio.

The edge of the squish band is the only place in a combustion chamber you want a sharp edge, the turbulence it creates mixes the air fuel better and reduces the size of the fuel droplets, this creates a faster burn reducing the likely hood of detonation.

If that was the case why wouldnt the OEM make the head like that in the 1st place?
