  1. @wsn03No immobiliser or alarms fitted. @E TI've pulled that plug apart and cleaned it. Still nothing. @IceKatI've got nothing. No idiot lights, dead as a doornail! Batt. shows 12.7V. When I switched ign. on, everything lit up as normal. Pulled clutch lever and hit the button, there was a definate crack from the centre of the bike! So, apart from the main fuse being blown, which it isn't, what could cause the electrics to be totally brown bread? Earths are tight!
  2. @wraithSean. Not got one of them doodads between batt. and fuse box. Electrics definitely not my strongpoint so, any help welcome!@Simbec1863Sidestand inhibitor shorted out with link. Clutch inhibitor already replaced. Battery showing 13.7V. Whole system dead as a doornail! Will start going through it systematically mañana!
  3. @wraithI thought that unit was an early GSXR thing only?
  4. I hate this stuff! Went to turn the Blandit over today. Ign. on, clutch in, hit the tit ... and got that sound we all dread. 'Phuttt'! Everything dead. No idiot lights ... nothing! So, main fuse, I thought. Nope! Changed it anyway, still nowt! Removed, checked and cleaned all fuses in fuse box. Still nothing! No burned wires. No 'Magic Smoke'. Just ... nothing. Where to start checking? Any ideas? I hate electrics!!!
  5. But ... ZX-9R RWU's are 46mm stanchions. Monster!
  6. Hello mate. Welcome to OSS! As Wraith says ... Once you start ...
  7. Any advancement on the paintwork?
  8. Hello Billy. Welcome to OSS!
  9. Same as mine! That one shows on Robinsons fische for the F model. Usually, there's an option to choose G and H models if there's a difference. There's not, apparently!
  10. @wsn03Found my battery box! Two mounts to top rail, one on bottom left side pointing forward.
  11. No you won't!!! It's just a mark! You can't feel it with your fingernail, can you? Just button it up, and worrying! It won't leak!
  12. RF900 stem was way too short for my ET frame. Just saying!
  13. @DezzaNah, mate, It's still in bits. I think YJ's hit the nail on the head. Production years run from August to July 31st. Hence, an '85F model could be manufactured in July '86! And, DVLA, in their wisdom, deem it an '86 model. VJMC may well turn up the same info!
  14. @wsn03Ok, Bud. I'll get a look at the Fisches tomorrow.
  15. @E TStamped into headstock. Think my fairing frame is G, as horns mounted to it. Having said that, the previous owner also had a 750 G or H, so who knows which parts off mine were 'liberated?' What's the difference in the fairing mount below the lamps? And, thanks for all the info OSS!
  16. @wsn03Can you post a picture of the battery box, just curious!
  17. Like this? Evidently, the GR71F prefix only applied to the '85 model. '86/'87 models were both GR71G. The '71' was the JDM prefix. European models were GR75A. You're right about the front wheel axle sizes! '85/'86 were both 15mm, whereas the '87 H model was uprated to 17mm. All rears were 20mm.
  18. @E TYes, it was complete. I'm almost sure the tail light was flush, but not having seen it for a while, can't say for definite. Bar end weights were aftermarket so, there again, no confirmation. Surely the frame prefix is a definite indication of model year? I remember there was a change in wheel spindle size, but that's about it!
  19. Cheers, John. It explains the B reg, sort of, but not why they would say in the special notes it's 1986 manufactured.
  20. Yes Duncan, I can. And they'll charge me £95+vat for the privilege!
  21. It's not a registration issue, it having an age related number with a B prefix, they even got that bit wrong. Shoulda been C reg! But it beats me why, when giving it an '84 prefix, do they then say '86 year of manufacture. I'm just a bit pissed off, having had the F bodywork repaired and re -painted in the '85 Blue/White UK colours, to find maybe the fucking thing could be a G model! @E Twhat's your frame prefix number?

    F or G?

I have a 750 Slabbie I thought was an F model (1985 manf.). It's a JDM import. On the V5C, in the 'Special Notes' section, it states year of manufacture as 1986, which would make it a G model. I got onto DVLA to try and get it changed to '85, but they maintain their records show it's an '86! When I bought it, it had all the bits that were particular to the F model ... tank, twin seats, top fairing with 'gill' slots and fibreglass belly pan. What other differences between models was there? The chassis no is prefixed by GR71F- Engine is R705-. Can members with F, G and H models please confirm their chassis prefixes are; GR71F ('85), GR71G ('86), and GR71H ('87) ? I theng yew!
