There was/is a dot head with cams on eblag starting bid £150 don't know if it still up for sale or if its ended.

Is it a GSXR or a Teapot dot head ? Only asking because of the difference in the cams..

  2. Oh the joys of BIM ownership.

I must admit the SB6 without its clothes on if fugly.

Incidentally I have some weird K&N panel filter thats been cut about in my airbox, seem to fit OK and does the job.

I see you have the old stainless steel heat shield on the exhaust, there was a chap on the BIM forum doing some nice tasty carbon fibber versions for reasonable money. They do save a fair bit of weight.

What's a friand tray? Anyway, does that frame spar prevent the fitting of e.g. RS carbs to this engine when it's in this particular frame? I ask as MikuniOZ sell Rs's for a lot less than they cost here and it looks like they are just up the road from where you are:)

I know of some one who fitted fcr39's to their SB6. Not sure what he did for filters.

  4. Hi welcome to OSS land.

Be careful around here, they will be tempting you with "Boost" for that B12 motor.

As said above cheap performance is a set of GSXR cams (Preferably K) and a DOT head.

Also took the one piece fairing off - I'll do it a better way next time!

The one piece fairing is a lot easier to get on and off with an "Abba" stand, I haven't invested in one yet, nut its on the shopping list.

Worrying about the delamination on the seat unit. Ill have to check mine as its a MK-II (well a bitsa made out of what they found in the parts bins)

  6. The standard GSXR 1000 K1 to K4 headers will fit on the 1127  motor (with some violence and a little heat)

I would think an aftermarket set may fit a little easier as the header pipes are normally individual pipes. (But they would have to be cheap to warrant the effort)

They tend to hang low due to the inclined original motor.

There are a few threads on here with pictures etc.

  7. Just did a quick google and a bit from the Proboard OSS site popped up @Jaydeeposted this,

" I remember Mustaphadump on the old site saying 1.2mm has to be skimmed off the barrels to get the compression and sqwish right for normally aspirated motor(on a 1127/1157 with standard 117mm rods) ."

I read the old post a little further and found that I had posted this later in the thread.

" Just found this on the Custom Fighters page.
Was posted by the man himself Mustaphadump (AKA Bill)

There's a whole lot more that can be done to a Bandit 1200, but if I was building a reasonably cheap powerful engine, I'd do the following.
    1216cc using Busa pistons
deck 1.2mm off the block, to give zero deck with no gaskets.
GSXR750J/K head skimmed by 30 thou.
1 OEM base gasket, 1 Wiseco MLS head gasket 0.95mm squish
GSXR750J/K cams dialled in on slotted sprockets.
RS38 Mikuni flatslides, open with short velocity stacks.
Full exhaust system with no less than 350/400mm length can
Dyna2000 ignition system and Dyna 2.2ohm coils, Dyna/Taylor leads

This little lot should give you around 150bhp and 90lb/ft of torque, and be a very streetable motor, for not a lot of money"

  8. Id start by checking the fork centre distances on your yokes (triple trees) and comparing them to the bandit yokes,

Also check the disk diameters, that should give you and idea if your wheel will fit.

But I'm sure an adult will be along to help..

The prosese is supposed to make the external metal harder as well as smooth. We will see.

The impact of the cleaning media work hardens the surface.

When I worked for a clutch manufacturer they use to shot blasting one side of the diaphragm spring to set it.
