  1. why do anything?? coz we are all different and all want different things from our builds. its not all about function
  2. hi and welcome in, nice GS
  3. might be on "classic" track days that have no noise limit?
  4. Yes....................IF you dont start them up
  5. i have had the same problem with my Mk 1 Bandit 12 arm into my GS750 frame! i had the top hats both made the same (8mm rim) to centralize the arm in the frame, with the arm fitted including a Mk 2 bandit wheel, sprocket carrier, brake hanger and spacers. with this set up the wheel was a fair amount off center to the right!! but if i had removed metal from the L/H wheel spacer to move the wheel over, then the sprocket carrier bolts would hit the swing arm, and the chain run would be too close to the frame and a nightmare to sort. i have found that after reducing the L/H top hat to 2mm and increasing the other to 14mm, the wheel now sits in the middle and the chain run will be good after removing 8mm from the sprocket carrier face.
  6. most swing arms are wider to the chain run side!!! so just because the wheel is central in the swing arm dont mean it is central in the frame, if you see what i mean? it will be most noticable when swaping wheel or swing arm from another bike.
  7. i also did my GS750 frame based on that drawing, handles great
  8. talked to Taff tonight for you both, unfortunately he has more on the go at the moment than he really wants, so he has said sorry but no to the request
  9. I had another build with a SSSA and offset rear wheel, was supposedly centered correctly (by me) after being set up. after riding the bike a few times and not being happy with the handling, I took the rear end apart and re measured everything, it came to light that the wheel off set was more than i had been told, ended up being off set by 5mm, once i added 5mm to the wheel spacer and centered it properly the bike handled correctly. so yes 5mm does make a difference mate
  10. you can always get some fork extenders made
  11. I fitted a B12 motor to my 77 GS frame using the GS lower rear engine mounting as the datum point for the engine placement, no big problem with making engine mountings, yes the engine sits back in the frame (better for chain/swing arm alignment i found) and exhaust adapters were needed for header clearance, but if you are getting an exhaust made then they wont be needed.
  12. bit late i know, but like to say thanks to everyone for a great weekend, me and Avril had a blast. Pity i didnt know you could take pillions on the Parade laps, or i would have had Avril out on the back for a laugh.
  13. nearly ready for the off, just need to pack the car once i finish work at lunchtime, not sure of the weather, looks like showers here!!!!! I hope not, coz i dont want the bike getting shitty
  14. thanks very much YJ, see you there
  15. I have never been to Donnington before! so would like to know what/where i am looking to find all the other OSS, I dont want to be driving around looking for everyone again like i did at Cadwell
  16. I will also be there Fri afternoon, any OSS "landmarks" to look for?
  17. + me (dont know about Avril yet, she might be working)
  18. As i am nowhere near my bike at the moment (bored at work lol), i thought i would ask, just in case someone has the spacing dimensions of the exhaust ports on a B12 head! its so i can make a template for when i heat and adjust a set of GSXR Ti headers to fit my bandit motor. needing the spacings between centres and the port seat diameters please
  19. sorry to hear that mate, get well soon
  20. Thanks very much, congrats on yours too mate , I will now have to fabricate a re enforced shelf to handle the weight
