GSXR 1100 W engine weaknesses
spondonturbo replied to spondonturbo's topic in Water Cooled, V-Twins, Singles and 2-strokes
Yes, the engine I am going to rebuild is likely valve damage from what the seller described to me. He originally had a blow up that threw a rod through the crankcases. Then he rebuilt the engine, but dropped a seal down the cam tunnel which then made the cam chain jump and another blow up. He then gave up and sold it to me, so here's hoping I have better luck -
GSXR 1100 W engine weaknesses
spondonturbo replied to spondonturbo's topic in Water Cooled, V-Twins, Singles and 2-strokes
Someone said they are prone to oil starvation to the head? as one of the issues. Anyone confirm this? -
Compression ratio is a little bit higher than average, but I don't think that would explain the lower than expected power. You mentioned it is fuel injection. I have not experienced a draw through with fule injection. Is it set up right? Maybe the fuelling is the restricting factor

I would have thought you should be getting more than 170 at 12 psi on an1100 W motor, so something does not sound right to me, but I am no expert. Surely 200 - 250 must be a reasonable expectation on a GSXR motor?

it was a good price though eh Ash. Got a bandit front end that would go in that if you are thinking of right way up forks
-
cheers Ken. I agree on the boost gauge. the Mr Turbo ones are cool

Stunning bike. What are the forks and front wheel off please? Looking for a radial front end for my 1100 w project and that looks nice. Also the efe is a heavy bike, how are the forks managing? any issues? thanks

Will you be selling the draw through stuff? Let me know if you do. Call me old fashioned but I like draw thru stuff

rusty waterboiler circuit
spondonturbo replied to spondonturbo's topic in Water Cooled, V-Twins, Singles and 2-strokes
cheers guys and good to hear the rad is ali, thats one less part to have to sort. Just a few rusty connectors then. Its a non standard hose set up. was thinking of putting some samco hoses, but they seem to be silly money. Might see if I can get some coloured in another make -
Hi again. All new to me this watercooled stuff lol. I am trying to put this WP project together that has been stood for a while. Gone to put the water hoses on and the steel tube for the joins is rusty inside and I guess that means the rad will be assuming they are also steel. My question is, can I flush it through with something to clean it out or will that bugger the waterpump or do I need to replace bits? Sorry for dumb questions

wp swingarm choices
spondonturbo replied to spondonturbo's topic in Water Cooled, V-Twins, Singles and 2-strokes
thanks Gammaboy. I didn't put the arm in but will assume the last owner did the spacer bit. I am going to take it out and see what has been done and go from there. Cheers for the help -
wp swingarm choices
spondonturbo replied to spondonturbo's topic in Water Cooled, V-Twins, Singles and 2-strokes
all good info lads. Currently have a busa arm in the bike so that makes sense with above. Looking for a nicer arm like spondon, jmc etc. So SRAD, Busa or k series only will go in but with a linkage swap, but L/M/N or WR will not - have I got that right? Its for this -

are the pivot widths the same? and did you have to mod anything to get it to work? apart from the pivot that is -
Hope you can help. I am looking for an extended swingarm for my 1100 WP. Are the WP swingarms different in pivot width and shock set up to the earlier oil cooled models? I have seen ones for oil cooled models for sale, but want to make sure they will fit and I have a feeling they are different? any advice please

very nice build. Astralites are cool

My Kat 1100 SD has a 19" front, but maybe mine is different? and I love 80's paintjobs
