gs7_11 Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 (edited) Do these look like genuine Suzuki GS1000 pistons? Why the grey coating? If not Suzuki, what are they? Thanks! Edited November 15, 2018 by gs7_11 Quote
Jaydee Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Don't know what pistons they are but the grey might be a ceramic coating to reduce heat saturation. 1 Quote

Adding some dimensions would greatly help you quest along with better pic of one of the pistons and what markings they have on the underside Quote
wraith Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 They will have the Suzuki S stamped on the inside of they a OEM, look like suzuk I but could be kwak? what's the diameter of the positions and size of the pin? Quote
gs7_11 Posted November 15, 2018 Author Posted November 15, 2018 Thanks. Yeah I didn't want to go into too much detail, just querying the grey coating........never seen that before and wondered if someone had. Seller said they are GS1000 and superficially they look like it, apart from this grey business. However, on checking the measurements, they are 69mm bore (+0.5mm oversize) so clearly not GS. What 8 valve engine has a 69mm bore? Not that it matters now..... Quote

Ah, GS850 seems a good shout. I've seen other pics and they do look like genuine Suzuki. Quote
gs7_11 Posted November 20, 2018 Author Posted November 20, 2018 Here's a thing: I bought these pistons, before I was told they were 69mm (+0.5). They were being sold as GS1000, quoting the right GS1000 part number. Turns out they were guessing at the part number and they were 69mm! Spoke to the vendor immediately, who said sorry, they're wrong, will cancel order and refund. Two days later, they turn up, despite them saying they wouldn't send them. Loose, in a jiffy bag. Really. I mean, who chucks a set of pistons in a Jiffy bag with no other packing material so that they can rattle against each other all the way up here! Next news, my refund has been done by e-cheque, so I have to wait 10 days to get my money back. They don't want the pistons returned, so if anyone wants them for ash trays.... Quote
johnr Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 i wonder if thy will go in a set of gs750 or 850 liners? i might be interested in them if the price was right? i need to measure some stuff in the shed. Quote
gs7_11 Posted November 27, 2018 Author Posted November 27, 2018 I'm pretty sure they're 850 pistons. 69mm bore, 1st rebore 0.5 oversize. The price would be right, don't want much for them, but I haven't even opened the Jiffy bag they came (loose) in, so I don't know how badly damaged they are. I'll have a look. Quote
gs7_11 Posted November 27, 2018 Author Posted November 27, 2018 They're not too bad, here's couple of pics of them after their journey. Deffo measure at 69.5mm, so the best guess is GS850. Quote
