Kraptanaman Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I got new jets for my carbs. Does it matter that the jet heads are different sizes? Or gave they sent me the wrong ones ? I feel as if this might be a numpty question. Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 What carbs Andrew? The larger one looks like a standard mikuni jet for an older 80s carb. The narrower one looks like either a dynojet main jet or a standard main jet from a later mikuni carb. Quote
Kraptanaman Posted June 15, 2018 Author Posted June 15, 2018 Marking on the original ones are AB and size 127.5 Quote
wraith Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 You may find that the standard type jets and the dynojet, even if they say the same size on them there are not, dynojet sizing is different to standard jet sizing. Did have a diagram somewhere with it all on i will try and find it. Your always best staying with ever standard jets or dynojets you know where you are then Quote
Kraptanaman Posted June 15, 2018 Author Posted June 15, 2018 Would the jets performance be altered with a chunk out of the screw slit? Quote

BTW I had this debate with Stuart Young at YPE. I had the chart that converted the the DJ jets to Mikuni based on the main jet hole diameter. Stuart assured me ( he has run a dyno for 20 years and tuned countless race bikes) that the profile of the DJ main jets gives them a superior flow rate and the sizes are actually on par with the mikuni sizes. Hell, I don't know. Quote
stellafella Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I've a paper copy of dj's and mikuni jet sizes , I'll post a picture up tomorrow morning when I finish work. Quote

wraith Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Some say it won't be a problem but I'd just stick to one type of jet in the same bank of carbs, just saved any problems And if I remember right, the dynojet jets are smooth around the sides but there is a key that's the same size but has a line around the side and that is a different jet with different sizing as well. stellafella Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 this is what I had, I decided to take the DJ kit out and replace it with standard jets/ needles on my 36mm mikuni for a slingshot 1100 1 Quote
Blue Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Are they both the same thread? Might have dynojet emulsion tubes which are not the same thread as mikuni/std jets Quote
stellafella Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 The DJ's I took out were the same thread as the mikuni jets that replaced them Quote
