spondon bandit face lift

ive changed the front end, it now has a zx9 front wheel and forks and a set of lurvley  G.I.A  c.n.c yokes, the old blade seat has been junked and i just finished making a new m.v agusta seat for it, i bought a donor seat from a guy on this site and modified it to fit then made a new part.spondon2__new_resiized.thumb.jpg.b2556d1

heres a picture of the modified seat, massive thanks to rich at http://www.profibre.co.uk/ who is a genius getting the thing to look right and allowing free use of his facilities , materials and expertise! as you can see we had to rivet a strap across it to get the shape right, the fabricate the foward wings to cover the sump on the tank, then 5 loverly days in a styrene stinking hell hole making the mould! oh what joy! ardous and tedious but the result ( i think) was worth it.

ok, so now i'm on a roll this with this resizing fandango i thought i'd show you my other project which has sadly been abandoned

its a 750 slingshot frame with a vfr single sided swing arm fitted with a  White power rear shock, the swingarm had to be machined down 4.5 mm on either stde to make it fit in,

gav at G.I.A did all the work and also build the fantastic subframe, the seat is zx 10 and the front end is paoli forks, brembo calipers, marchinesi wheel and spondon yokes, this all came of the front end. my original plan was to fit the 1200 bandit in it but i have decided to concentrate on the spondon.

does anyone know what the deal is with registering it at the d.v.l.a, it has no v5 for it, its straight cos its my old frame i used as a donor for the spondon but ive used the v5 for the spondon. i have a matching vfr front wheel to go on it to so the wheels match.

if you've used the numbers off the slingy frame for your spondon, I'd suggest you keep it on the down-low, and put the slingy frame in your loft.

hi all , i hav'nt used the frame numbers from the slingshot for the spondon, that came with its own number.  i changed the frame number on the v5 to the number on the spondon frame and kept the original number plate. i spoke to the D.V.L.A and they told me as long as i had 3 parts from the original bike that would be ok, its been registered for 10 years now, so the original slingshot frame has its original numbers but no v5. hope that makes some sense!

cheers

FPMSL, mate that isnt how it works! you need to score 8 points to get it called an original model, you score different points for different bits, total must be 8 or more.

frame is worth the greatest amount of points, 5 i think.

but as i have just found out having been through the "built up bike" process, they seem to interpret the rules to suit themselves, good luck :/

they must have changed the rules coz when i finished building the first incarnation in 2004 they did'nt award points, any three parts would do! obviously its different now!

any hoo i have a v5 for it with the spondon numbers so its all goodxD

It used to be a certain percentage of the donor bike and it would keep the original reg and the vin would change on the book,It would then state," Motorcycle built from parts all or some of which not necessarily new at time of manufacture".This was how to re frame a crashed bike with a frame kit and keep an age related plate exactly as Steelprunes stated. They change this process all the time basically as a means of further taxation.
