colinworth79 Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 See picture of a set of valves I've just removed from my bandit 1200 motor . 3 of the inlet valves have quite a lot of carbon deposits on the back . There in order of where they are in the head . I'm thinking the stem seals are past there best as far as I'm aware never been changed . Quote
wraith Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Seen a lot worse on GS1000 heads you will be changing the valve seals any why no you have the valves out If it was not smoking at start up they where most probably OK. Quote
markfoggy Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Can't be anything else going on, Possibly caused by tiny variation of the tolerances in valve/guide match and machined angle. Should all be happily within working tolerance. Not an issue. 1 Quote
matt Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 They look positively clean compared to the inlet valves I recently pulled out of my GSXR, they had lumps of crap on them. Funny thing was it hadn't even been noticeably smoking, new valve stem seals fitted now, so hopefully should improve matters. It might even spin up quicker without all that weight on the valves:) Quote
no class Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 Should look like new after an ultrasonic bath Quote
