Hi has anyone any experience with rebuilding a gsxr 750 engine 1991 I've fitted new piston rings and lapped in all the valves fitted new stem oil seals and when running its abit smokey is this normal ?? When I've pulled the plugs they look fine how many miles do I run it in for ??

Why did you rebuild the motor? Was it smokey before.

Only reason I ask is that if the bore & pistons had a lot of wear, replacing the rings is unlikely to fix it as oil control depends on a nice close running clearance between the piston & bore as well as good rings.

It had stood for a long time without running so I was making sure it was good as I've never seen it run but the bore was well within tolerance the rings I used were oem parts they cost £££ as did all the other parts

I wouldn't worry to much about the exhaust, as you've said the plugs look okay that's what I'd be looking at.

More than likely oil residue from the rebuild.
