spiderman Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 evnin, I'm putting a 12 bandit back together, i was wondering if this tank is worth repairing , quite a few holes, and I'm no welder, so any advice appreciated. cheers scott. Quote
colinworth79 Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 if it was my tank I would cut the whole bottom 'bowl' off and fabricate a new one or find a replacement . You start trying to weld patches on you blow holes in it as the metal is so thin . Quote
teltwosheds Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Been there gave up. As Toni says get another Quote
spiderman Posted March 12, 2017 Author Posted March 12, 2017 ok, mate says he can braze it, so try that first, if it doesn't work, then ill get another tank, cheers. Quote
spiderman Posted April 1, 2017 Author Posted April 1, 2017 morning, I've had the tank welded, and it's not leaking now, but i need to seal the inside now, what's the best product to do this, i have no experience of this at all, so dont know whats best to use, any help appreciated.scott. Quote
Gixer1460 Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 From what i've heard, most if not all of the DIY tank liner coatings fail after a while with the ethanol addition in fuel! Why do you feel the need to coat the inside? If you store the bike drain the tank and close the cap, or brim the tank with fuel - both stop rust forming. Quote
spiderman Posted April 1, 2017 Author Posted April 1, 2017 just figured sealing ut might make the repair last longer, but if i dont have to then i wont, saves me the hassle and cost. Quote
Crass Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 POR15 is excellent and is not affected by ethanol Quote
