Tombola
Morning, I have a bailey single piston dump valve, issue is under idle its fluttering open. Has anyone bought a spring from bailey? Or could say what size I need before I bring a vac gauge home from work please? Quote Link to comment
Gixer1460
BOV's are supposed to open under high vacuum ie. at idle so the fluttering is normal. Quote Link to comment
Tombola
But your taking in unfiltered air?? Quote Link to comment
Gixer1460
Build a recirculating system if your concerned so it breathes filtered air. No one seems to worry about it after blasting down runways at 200 mph and slamming the throttles shut! Quote Link to comment
Diebythereaper
I wouldnt worry about it, let it breathe, is it holding boost when riding underload and then letting out the "whoosh" sound when you let off the power? Its functioning correclty then, Ive ran one for years and love their size and shape Quote Link to comment
Tombola
I haven't rode it yet just sorting bits for the MOT out at the minute as the brakes don't won't Quote Link to comment

If you take vacuum from all 4 intakes and connect them to the dumpvalve the fluttering is gone 1 Quote Link to comment
Tombola
Can't Unless I fit different boots or find a way of putting stabbings to seal on each of them, there are screws fitted to the carbs for balancing but job to find a hose tail to fit them. If the general consensus is its ok then I shall leave it! Quote Link to comment
Leblowski
Its no problem but i hated it on my bike so got it sorted by drilling holes in the intakes and put in some m6 and drilled holes in them Quote Link to comment
Tombola
I don't know if you could of got away with stronger spring. clever, I suppose you nutted the other side and sealed with silicone? Quote Link to comment
Leblowski
Just a piece of m6 with a bit of sealent they screw right in the rubber and are tight done this numerous times now and works perfect I tried harder springs in the past didnt work for me Edited February 25, 2017 by Leblowski Quote Link to comment
colinworth79
I ran a bailey unit many years ago on my bandit and it used to come slightly open when stationary. Changed to a turbosmart unit now and that doesn't do it as its got a monster spring but it also doesn't open when you shut the throttle at anything below 5k ok above those revs .
