18 on the rear 17 on the front?

So I picked up this slabby 750 the other day. It has the 1988 gsxr 1100 rear wheel. 

18x4.5 the widest slabby rear. Looks like a newer 17 with the 3 spokes but its not it's an 18...

Could I swap just the front wheel to a 17 so the spokes match. Would that be terrible for the handling?

quite a few bikes had 17 front and 18 rear . Just be careful on tyre choice as its the overall diameter that's important .

It could be off a J model.

They are right & sneaky, look like proper 17 5.5s but are 18 4.5s

I think the killer Ks are 17 but 4..5s

I've had usd front end with a 17 rim on a GSX1100 with the original 18 rear until I could afford to sort the back out & it was ok .

I've just sorted my Sladdy, but before that I ran it with the original front end & a 17 inch 750m rear for 6 months & again it was great.

Having said that, I,m no racer &  Ive started the new year early so I might be talking s.h.i.t.  !

I think the main thing here is to get tyres that are from the same manufacturer, 1.e. the profiles are designed to work together.

This might limit you a little, but Conti Attack springs to mind.

The 3 spoke 18" are off the last gsxr1100j slabside, you can get a 17" gsxr 750/1100k front wheel or I believe the gsx750f front wheel gos strate in just change discs.

I do have a 17" gsxr front wheel in the shed I can size up spindle bearings and hub size if you want? Mite help and if you want it can do a OSS discount

I have a slingshot 750 front wheel already. But what's this you're saying katana 750 wheel fits straight in? as in same axle and bearing size. Speedo drive and all that...

 

nah nevermind thats only 3 inches across not 3.5
