Difference between 1100L & 1100M frames

Hi there,

I know this has been done before but how can I tell a GSXR1100L frame from an M one?

I'm looking to build my L onto a new frame and have been offered a '91 frame but don't know if it's an L or an M. The frame numbers don't seem to make a difference?

Thanks,

Jonny

M/N rear part (where the seats and sidepanels go) is wider. Measure your L frame and compare with the new one and you'll know.

Thanks.

Does that mean the L tail pieces are unlikely to fit? I was hoping to be able to swap everything across and keep it looking standard.

Did this years ago, had an L with terrible welsh paint job!! swooped it for m/n seat panels and tank, needed to make some brackets for the grab rails and use the small subframe that holds the lights and panels at the back from the M as well..:tu

Yes the L frame with M/N panels and seat is possible, but the other way round will not fit. M/N frame is too wide for the L bodywork and seats.

Thanks guys. The search goes on then...
