And just in case you haven't noticed there are bell mouths on the back of the throttle bodies that the plenum is built round. And no it doesn't run yet, still haven't got the bodies back on, family life and work have been holding me up. Cheers SRR Quote

Any plans to come over to Donington on may 6th? Quote
Screwriverracing Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 Right, just spent an hour in the garage with a big wooden stick, and have nearly got the bodies back on. Having trouble with no2 so will have another go tomorrow with 2 sticks. Can get 3 and 4 in easily , just 1 and 2 being a pain.. And Marco not sure about the Donnington day, have a lot going on at the moment. Cheers SRR Quote
Screwriverracing Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Still struggling with the throttle bodies, so I pinched Marco's idea and used a ratchet strap. worked brilliantly, put some tension on then wiggled them and they have all seated nicely. The proof Thanks Marco. Cheers SRR Edited April 23, 2017 by Screwriverracing 1 Quote
bruteforce Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Allrighty! Hope you'll get it running well now so you can make it to Donington still. Quote

Screwriverracing Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 Got some spare time, so hopefully going to work on the bike next week. In order to stop the kick back I am going to cut slots in the pick up plate to retard the ignition, then I will add the retarded amount to the ignition map. Cheers SRR Quote
Gixer1460 Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 If you have a mappable ignition . . . . . . . . why are you slotting the pick up plate as that'll change the entire map? Doesn't make sense - just adjust the cells below idle? Quote

Hi Gixer1460, I need to retard the ignition as the starting map is preset and can't be altered, once running above a certain rpm it works of what you set in the map. Just the way RACETECH designed it, a bit rubbish really. Cheers SRR Quote
Screwriverracing Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 Just found this from RACETECH At speeds below 700 RPM the ignition timing is fixed to spark on the rising edge of the tooth that precedes the long tooth(slug) (cyls 1/4) and the tooth that follows the slug (cyls 2/3). From 700 RPM upwards the ignition timing is adjustable Quote
Gixer1460 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 I read the words which make sense but still doesn't jive with slotting the plate! Having a 'fixed' timing is not unusual - it just infers that it stays at 10 degrees or whatever it's set to and won't be influenced by increased revs, coolant temps or whatever. If it does have a truly fixed timing - what is it ? because if you don't know, you could retard it past TDC! Daft system - supposing the engine idled at 700 rpm - what the hell would it be doing then? Is the system one of these? Just out of interest - http://www.racetechdev.co.uk/products.html - the EMX-01 seems a sophisticated device so the above seems strange! Quote
Screwriverracing Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 Managed to do a bit on it today, tested the FPR as thought it was faulty, seems to be fine. https://youtu.be/rKb0yX3Xq6Q Hopefully do a bit more tomorrow. Cheers SRR Quote
