GSX1100S and GSX1000SZ Swingarm Compatibility?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, if an aftermarket swingarm fits a GSX1100S Katana, then it should fit a GSX1000SZ Katana, shouldn’t it?

I believe frames, and everything else, were the same on the two models, it was just the engines and carbs (for the VM32SS oval-slide equipped bikes) that were different.

would even fit the 750 version as well as earlier GSX1100ET, GS, etc................frames are all basically the same

needs a sleeve for the 750. pivot pins a smaller diameter

Do you need to change swing on Gsx750 if you want gsxr wheels?

yes, you won't get a 5,5inch wheel in their but you'll  get a 4,5inch in, like a 600 bandit.

As far as I‘m aware a 1100 Kat swinger should fit in a GSX 750 frame.

The Kat swinger will take a 5.5 “ rim with a 180 section tyre.IMG_3011.thumb.jpeg.462aa90a9169ad1bc7c0520776b86205.jpeg

Ah so 4.5 rim will fit in the original Gsx750 1981 swingarm? 4.5 is max? = )

is it 17" wheels?

mine had the GSX1100 swingarm in and with a 600 bandit 4.5 inch rim with a 150 tyre.  im sure the steel 750 arm is about the same width.ish !!!

i used an offset front sprocket and had the rear carrier turned down to get the chain in line,  used a GS500 rear calliper as it sits up top (like the GSX) and a 600 bandit hanger and disc.

fitting a wider rear wheel isn't plug and play, you have to do some mod's.

Is it no good idea to buy bandit 1200 2003 and use 5.5 rims on gsx750 1981 rim?

you can do if you want, you will still have to sort out the chain run,

I put a B12 swinger on my GSX1100 (same set up as a 750)   you can use the sprocket carrier from the standard GSX wheel as they fit a 1200 bandit wheel, but will still need an offset front sprocket,  but you'll find the chain is close to the tyre and the frame but it does just about clears.

this was the GSX i did.

How did you do with the origal breakdisc back? Did it fit on the rim? Or you use bandit disc and caliper?
Chain: does that work with 630 chain or can you change sprocket to 530 chain?

For the bandit 600 front, did the fork workt without mod? The axel and bearings same? :)

its a complete 1200 bandit front end, and yeah you have to swap the steering stem and then sort lock stops.

use a bandit disc but GS500 calliper as it sits on top for the torque arm mounting point,  convert to 530 chain and sprocks.

nothings a direct fit so some mod's needed.
