banoffee Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 If you mean the 750 VM29s then send me a PM with your email address, can then send the Suzuki manual carb section to you. Quote
busa ash Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 link to servicing http://gsxr70r.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/mikuni-vm29ss-carburettor-overhaul.html 1 Quote
canamant Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 To get the needles out you need to remove the tops, then take the screw out of each of the bell cranks (one is a bolt). You can then lift the slide out. The bell crank is attached to the inside of the slide with a small allen bolt. You will need a long ball ended allen key to get in. Once the bell crank and slide are separated then you can drop the needle out. Don't lose the shim. 1 Quote
banoffee Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 That reminds me, I need to raise mine a notch. Quote
CockneyRick Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Well i have to say the link above & the link you gave me are pretty poor when it comes to removing slides. One kinda just skips past it altogether other than a full carb seperation & the other is for roundslides, which may not be the same process! If i had ot guess, i'd say undo the allen bolt in top of cam, rotate throttle & hold slide up, then unhook pin from cam to slide & pull it out? But tbh it sounds too simple & i know there'll be summat fiddly i'll lose! 1 Quote

banoffee Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Sent you the scans of the factory manual carb section. Took mine completely to bits and then put back together just with that. More recently adjusted my needles too. All straightforward once you’ve read it. My bike runs very smoothly Quote
CockneyRick Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Can you send it again, seems the link i have here is for a fairly vague one. To change needles i have to separate all 4 carbs & do a total strip, which i'm sure isn't necessary? Quote
banoffee Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 No, I’ve done them with the carbs on the bike. PM your email address. Quote
CockneyRick Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Right still baffled. Caps removed & 1 bolt removed from cam. I can now lift the "Flat" slide up but as you can see in pic i still can't remove it, nor caan i undo the 2 allen bolts at top of slide as 1 is still out of sight behind cam. Quote
banoffee Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Have you tried a thin ball ended Allen key / driver at varying slide heights? I definitely did mine in situ. Quote
CockneyRick Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Were yours round or flat slides? Looking at exploded views the rounds are easy to get at, the flatties are not As i can see it, i can get at one allen bolt, but the other is hidden behind the cam, & zero chance of undoing that! Quote
banoffee Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Definitely flat and definitely did them without splitting the carbs. Was a while ago however have done it a couple of times. Quote
banoffee Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 If I get a chance I'll whip the lid off one and remind myself how I did it. Bit busy at the moment so might be a while. 1 Quote
p4ddy Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 (edited) You undo the bolt, then put the allen key in to undo one then raise it a bit and do the other. I use one of my RC Heli Allen keys and it takes seconds to get the needle out. Edited June 4, 2020 by p4ddy 3 Quote
CockneyRick Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 After much fuckery i managed to get No3 carb slide apart. For info you cannot get the slide out without pulling the whole bank apart, but yes you can (barely) separate the cam & slide for needle removal. And here we have old & new needles, Gen from Robinsons but no idea what were in it? Now to attempt reassembly & then onto the others 1 Quote
CockneyRick Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 No wonder the slides were a bit stiff! Anyhoo, many thanks to the contributors on here who helped me to finally figure how to do these now & in the future 1 Quote
