B12 cam cover question

Is the chain guide bolted to the underside of the cam cover on the b12 needed? 

I've a low profile breather I want to fit but the bolts for the guide are in the way :S

never removed one from an engine but i can't see an issue ???????  the chain isn't gona hit the cam cover unless its waaaay to loose O.o :D

The chain guide bolts in from the top.  Change was due to fitting a hyvo chain . There is no idler gear between the cams on a bandit motor. Just grind couple small bits out of the brether box or use couple of counter sunk screws.
