Frankenbike?

I was searching through the local OfferUp and came across this. It is listed as a 1989 GS750 and I had to scratch my head because I know that the 8-valve head went away long before 1989. So I'm asking the group if they have any ideas as to what this might be. I'm guessing it might be at least two different Suzukis.

Not sure on 750 as I think all two valve 750s were kick start

Correct.

It's either a 550 or a 650.

Definitely not 89 also, unless late registered old stock.

Yes at 89 could be a import that got wrong year reg.

Have heard of that before.

I think you nailed it gs7_11! And here I was still running down the rabbit hole of it being a 750. Funny what is found on the internet and when things like this come up it is a good test of knowledge to figure out what it really is. Thanks all for your input; well done!

They were a good bike but only in North America for two years (81-82).  Size and weight of a 550 with neary the power of a 750.  Good flowing head, 673cc.

I owned one, but found it pretty slow. Maybe I had a duff one or it was just my perception at the time as I was riding a Guzzi Lemans 1 with a race tuned 950 motor at the time.
