clivegto Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 Mrs GTO got called into work for 3 hours today (Christmas day) so I sneaked out to the shed. I ordered a 20 ton press for Christmas which I put together the other nigh. Pressed the Triumph stem out to remove the bearing then removed the lock stops with Mr Grinder. Pressed the stem back in then pressed the new bearing on, fitted the bearing outers to the frame after leaving them in the freezer for a while which shrinks them making them a piece of pish to fit, but you all knew that right Mery Christmas people's 9 Quote

clivegto Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Looking at pictures of my mate Andys Harris last night which he had at Donington on the OSS stand I remembered Metmachex swinging arm had been turned upside down to fit the frame then I remembered I had a Metmachex arm of middle weight yam fitment in me stash of stuff . So I'm going to make the one I have fit the mag frame as well. Will need a bit of chop chop but that's what we do hear on OSS right now whereas my grinder 6 Quote

clivegto Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 A few measurements and a some squiggles with the sharpie and I recon the arm needs a new swinging arm pivot point where x marks the spot and a top shock mount making, easy peasy right . Metmachex arm will then be the same length as the standard Harris one on full extension it can't be any shorter because of the cross piece joining it together. Am happy with this as my turbo Harris is 2 1/2" over and handles great. 3 Quote
Allspeeds Posted January 5 Posted January 5 @Paulmno it’s not mate it’s the frame that’s upside down Quote

clivegto Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 Took the casting line of the bottom yoke with a flap wheel then cleaned it up with some scotch brite and then a coat of wax. Ground the lettering of 8 m8 stainless bolts and polished them up to bolt the yokes together. Trumpet forks are in pretty good condition so have just cleaned them up for now. 4 Quote
clivegto Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 Bondy calls this Yorkshire Gold (he's not wrong you know) there adapter brackets to fit modern discs to an old 18" Astralight front wheel which I'm fitting to the Trumpet forks. Just need a little bit of fine tuning to finish them of. Am well pleased with them, big thanks goes out to gsxrSam one's again. 7 Quote

clivegto Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 Removed the trumpet lettering from the calipers then polished some stainless steel bolts up for them. Fitted the front wheel bearings to the hubs and fitted the faring stay as this acts as the lock stops to stop the forks smashing into the frame. 4 Quote
clivegto Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Cut down an existing trumpet wheel spacer I had and made a new one for the other side. Knocked up a crush tube for the wheel as well. Waiting for the proper bolts to arrive to bolt the hubs together, got dust seals on the way as well. Need some 320mm discs to match the forks as well. I used the k9 310mm ones as there 6 bolt and the trumpet ones are 5 bolt because the astralight spacings are 6 bolt which means they could be offset to be fastened together. 2 Quote
imago Posted January 30 Posted January 30 The thing that leaps out at me from this build (aside from all the work obvs ) is how good the frame colour looks against the shiny aluminium stuff. 1 Quote

It's a nice red and suppose to be a candy red (powder coaters own colour) but looks more like a chrome red to me which I like. 1 Quote
