Wigwam Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Gas flowed head for a bit more power. Downpipes now getting cherry red when ran at 2500- 3000rpm. I know it's a fuel thing but has anyone took temp readings. There's a lot of variables but wondered if I could use temp readings when tuning. Any insight or advice appreciated. Quote
FJD Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Usually around 280-300 degree celsius on tickover Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Could be fuel but also Ignition - excessive retard or no advance from idle wouldn't help! At low rpms quoted there shouldn't be excessive heat - something is wrong, not bad tuning - its wrong! 1 Quote
Devilman Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 (edited) Just to re-iterate what others have said, if your headers are getting cherry red at 2.5k something is very wrong. Either your exhaust cam is early, your ignition timing is late, or the bike is running lean AF and getting very hot. Investigate and fix it fully before using it else you will kill the motor sooner or later. Edited August 26, 2022 by Devilman Quote
