Savav2v1
Was told engine refreshed with new bores and pistons due to piston ring failure Woundered if you knowledgeable folks would know piston make going by part numbers, what spec head it could be ( standard/mild etc) and damage seen relates to possible ring faliure Going by cleaned up valves I'm guessing they were going to run it Thanks for you time.. Keep safe Quote Link to comment
Gixer1460
The chamber don't look so bad and consistent with a broken ring BUT the chunk out of the side of the chamber isn't from a busted ring! Looks close to fire ring of HG - needs to be checked. Also valve seats need checking for damage from broken ring pieces! Quote Link to comment
imago
The piston numbers look like Wiseco 1168 and the bore (75mm) would tie up with that too. 28mm inlet valves would most likely be EF valves and the exhaust valves standard size. The head's a mess but may be OK. I wouldn't like to say just based on photos though. As @Gixer1460said, plus in the bottom centre of the second photo that looks like it could be a bit of ring still embedded, which would obviously be a bad thing. If you're not sure of your own judgement/experience on that side of things you'd be best to get someone to have a look at that head before using it. Quote Link to comment
