just gone back to hydrolic clutch on 1100m and need to know pushrod length , also going to fit 40mm carbs as just sold the 36mm ones and need to know standard settings or a decent set-up with v&h sidewinder (baffled) and ram air filters

Push rod length is approximately 101.5mm in length. You will struggle to get the 40mm carbs set up properly with filters they like a airbox. I sold my one's in the end, you would be better of with 38's.

Yeah - they don't normally follow the 77-93-77 or 78-90-78 carb body spacing of air / oil cooled engines! And as said 40's without an airbox will run crap / be largely untunable compared to 36 / 38's

If they are from an oil-cooled bike then the original machine would have to be a 750M, as the BST38s from the 750L have RS-style plugs that enable main jet changes without removing the float bowls. Get the seller to measure the spacings or pass: the 750W carbs aren't going on an oil-cooled engine without a whole load of grief.

i dont think he knows what they came off as he was going to use them for a car , i asked if they are oilcooled and he thinks they might be,  when measuring  is it center to center bore and what should oilcooled be ??

With my crappy eyes these measurements could be 1-2 mm out so are a fair ball park

this is the info he just sent me , if anyone can verify these are oilcooled 38mm i can buy them tonight , thanking you all

Personally, I would give them a miss. 750 W carbs are spaced 85-90-85.; oil cooled is as stated above 77-93-77. The 750W carbs are used by boy racers to soup up their Novas, Escorts or whatever. The information as to why these carbs won't fit very easily to an oil-cooled engine is given in the link below. It's a sticky on the top of this section and is fairly easy to find...... Someone has got them onto an oil-cooled by a mix-and-match with different carb rubbers but it would be a whole lot less grief to buy a set of correctly spaced carbs in the first place.
