Kid Kearsley Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 troubleshooting why my carbs do not snap shut when lifting up the metal slides by hand? slacken off the carb top and they snap shut. how do the carb tops breath on these 1988 gsxf powerscreen carbs? Quote
Havoc Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) I thought the whole point of CV carbs was that that bit remained at constant pressure. Are the return springs clean and free(I know they are)? I used a couple of silicon charity wrist bands around the cam chain tensioner to make the return action on the Slingy more 'snappy'...Anything to do with the positive pressure of the turbo?Re-read, the pressure, or lack of, from the motor does it while running?? Ben Slabby Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Check the springs are in straight. Top side of the diaphragms breathe through the 2 holes either side of the needle on the bottom of the slides, iirc. Quote
suzook12 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 They're not supposed to "snap" shut, thats the whole point of them.As long as they all take the same amount of time to shut then they are as they should be. As long as the butterflies snap shut then all is well.Steve Quote
Swiss Toni Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 He's right, you know! That's why CV's won't 'choke' when you whip the throttle open, whereas others (VM's and Flatslides), will! 1 Quote
Leblowski Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 What suzook says they not suppose too snap shot.it could be there stuffer springs in there and that there are holes drilled in the slides to give faster throttle respons.i think thats done when they have a dynojet kit Quote
