Looking to know what others have measured for the CC of the GSXR 1100 G cylinder head? I know the DOT heads are 22cc. I've seen mention that non-DOT heads are 4cc more. When I measured mine, Im getting ~30cc. Does that sound about right for this head? Trying to calculate my CR, so I'm assuming accuracy is paramount. Quote Link to comment

TiZiK Posted October 22, 2015 Author Share Posted October 22, 2015 Plexiglass with hole, head slightly tilted, graduated cylinder and a graduated syringe. Did it twice and came up the same. Using a CR calculator, 4 cc raises or lowers CR by almost half a point. Have even tried a different cylinder and got a similar result. Quote Link to comment
george 1100 Posted October 22, 2015 Share Posted October 22, 2015 I measured the 1052 head on my last build and it was bang on 26. Are you using fuel or water? Leaking through valves maybe? I put a smear of grease around the valves before measuring Quote Link to comment

canamant Posted October 27, 2015 Share Posted October 27, 2015 You also need to measure the piston too. Valve pockets increase CCV and domes decrease it. To get true CR you need to do a dirty build with grease on the rings and fill the combustion to the bottom of the spark plug hole at TDC. 1 Quote Link to comment
TiZiK Posted October 30, 2015 Author Share Posted October 30, 2015 I got a new syringe from medical supply place. Figure they'd be the most accurate. Tried again and got 28cc. 3 times. Gixer1460 Posted October 30, 2015 Share Posted October 30, 2015 All depends on what you are trying to find - combustion chamber volume to work out compression or pure in-head chamber volume to work out gas flowing effects on CR.The former is generally acknowledged as 26cc so I bet you'll find the piston domes will measure out at about 2cc which of course gets deducted from the head volume Quote Link to comment
