Captain Chaos Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 750 J/K are slingies. 750 J/K/L and 1100 K/L seats are the same. M/N seats and sidepanels (750 and 1100) are wider, not a straight fit on J/K/L models. Quote
spiderpig Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 Ah shit, i much prefer the twin rear lights Quote
Captain Chaos Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 they can be made to fit, it's been done before. Not by me though. Quote
spiderpig Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 I have a uncut frame, don't really want to start chopping and modding Quote
Captain Chaos Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I believe @minipowerdid this some 15 years ago. But he's not online much lately. AFAIK frame does not need cutting. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 @Not_so_Evil_Lloydto the info desk please Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Yup its not to difficult, just the rear grab rail mounts dont line up, a few brackets need making nothing difficult, I'm struggling to find the before and after pictures due to the bastard Photbucket site not allowing me to copy my own pictures?????  Ill try harder.!! fatblokeonbandit Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Found some, this was 2004/5, another one I should have kept!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Â Â 1 Quote
spiderpig Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 Deadly, cheers for that. Seats mount up ok? Will have to take the weight of the missus Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 When i bought all the blue and white stuff i never did find a pillion seat that why it has the hump on it, so i cant say for sure but everything else was good, just the grab rail mounts needed making, easy peasy.. Â Â Quote
spiderpig Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 Ah deadly, she hates grab rails so that's no problem. May pic up a set and see how it goes, if the pillion seat doesn't work out I'll just move it on. Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 My 88 750 has M seat unit fitted. It wasnt done by me it was like that when i got it. They have done away with the grab rail and fibreglassed the panels together on the inside around the light so its all one piece now. With the seats off you can see the frame is narrower than the M frames but it works fine. Mine was converted back when the M was a new bike in the 90s! Quote
spiderpig Posted April 16, 2020 Author Posted April 16, 2020 Any issues with the pillion seat? Latch work? Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Pilion seat and latch is fine. But i don't know if the seats themselves are from the J or the M. What i would point out is by not adapting the grab rail there isnt really anyting behind the seats holding it to the subframe, its worked and survived as its been fibreglassed into a one piece unit. None of this was done by me its how it was when i got the bike. If i was doing it i would say you either need to adapt grab rail as mentioned by @fatblokeonbanditor fibreglass it together like mine. I think its be a bit floppy other wise, and no one wants a floppy one. Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 So as i got to actually leave the house and check the warehouse today i took the pillion seat from the lounge bike with me to check along side this fine example of an 88 750 Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 So my seats are definitely M seats (black) as you can see from these photos but the bolt spacing is the same. So it's really only your options on grab rail mounting or glassing like mine. When i get back home i'll throw the 750M plastics back on my frame and take some more pics. Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I would compare the front seats but i appear to have either lost or eaten them. 2 Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Found the front seats! Â Side by side. Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 M seat fits straight on the 88 frame and lines up with latch. Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 M - front seat won't quite line up if have the J pilion seat fitted. If i was doing another Rat bike it would go with a good whack. M pilion seat won't fit J bodywork without surgery. I'm going home now to drink many cold ones. Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 @spiderpiglast lot of photos as promised with plastics plonked on frame. Quote
