Ibbo Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Ive changed to 530 chain on my gsx engined Gs1000. I want to try an 18t sprocket at the front, and they are listed on Eblag for gsxr motors. Is the front sprocket the same spline as the oil boilers? And the watercooled suzukis? Thanks mike Quote
CockneyRick Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Why 530? I've put 520 on my EFE engined EFE & My GS1098 engined GS1000 Quote
Ibbo Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 Excellent thanks. 530 because 520 looks so skinny. It's probably fine but I've used 530 for years without problems. 2 Quote
Ibbo Posted September 8, 2019 Author Posted September 8, 2019 18 tooth bandit gearbox sprocket now fitted. Had a test run out 2 up, and its much nicer than with 17. 48 tooth rear, and 170/17 tyre. 5k rpm gives 90 on the clock. Pulls well in top. First is a touch high for heavy traffic, so im going straight down the middle in future. 1 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 18T certainly isn't std / normal on a Bandit nor 17 or 16! Surprised a stockish? GSX will 'pull well' that tall - geared for 180mph! Quote
Ibbo Posted September 9, 2019 Author Posted September 9, 2019 Well it certainly won't pull 180! but it cruises happily between 70 and 90 without my feet going numb from the vibration. I rarely consider going over a ton, though it's pulling well at that in top. I need to drop to 4th in town in 30 / 40 limits. The red line on the old girl is 8500 too though it's still pulling hard at 9k, not in top though. Seems quite acceptable to me. Quote
dago Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 I have 18/48 on my efe and it pulls great tried 17 on the front but much prefer the 18 Quote
