Mikefort Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Im new here and i love all the knowledge i get from just reading the fors but i have an unanswered question. How can i lower the rear of my Gs750es 1983, i was looking for the dogbones (rear linkage) on the monoshock and i couldn't find them. Any easy way of lowering the rear without too much modification? Swiss Toni Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Morning Mike. Welcome to OSS! Pop over to 'General', give yourself a bit of an introduction. Quote
wraith Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Welcome to OSS. I don't think the ES has dog bones, so a bit of modification may be needed but you could always put a shorter shock in. somebody will be along how will know 1 Quote
Mikefort Posted March 8, 2019 Author Posted March 8, 2019 Thanks for the quick response i will look into a shorter spring! Quote
ibrakeformoose Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Do the 'Gas Monkey' thing and cut a coil out.. depends how low you want to go (and why).. Quote
Mikefort Posted March 21, 2019 Author Posted March 21, 2019 I wanted to lower it because my girlfriend might use it sometimes Quote
ibrakeformoose Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 The best thing might just be to buy another seat and chop that down for her.. lots of foam options these days. Quote
ibrakeformoose Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 As far as a mechanical lowering, don't be tempted to pull the forks through the yokes though, as most 16" front wheeled bikes invent their own corners anyway, so you'd end up with a slap happy bike for sure.. Quote
Mikefort Posted March 23, 2019 Author Posted March 23, 2019 So i decided to make a new seat with a lower profile Quote
no class Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 ……..you can lower your bike via the suspension cushion mount . cut the 2 mounts off ( circled in red ) and remove a small portion of the tubes...…..keep in mind that approx 6mm removed here will equate to something like 25mm of drop in the rear or so …...adjust to your liking then weld back in / coat of paint and you are done . Mikefort Posted March 23, 2019 Author Posted March 23, 2019 If the seat isnt enough this will be an option thanks for the info! Quote
