Cam chain guide broken..

Afternoon all,

I'm lacking expertise here now. (B12 engine with dot head to fit)

Basically the the cam chain guide blade has snapped, on the tensioner side, about an inch above the tensioner.

When i got the head off there was the top of the guide blade just sitting there happily detatched.

Question is, can i leave it as it is? as the tensioner will still do its job? the cam chain will still go towards the cam sprocket surely?

I dont want to seem like im cutting corners, i just worry about splitting the bottom end because its all new territory to me O.o if its safe to leave i will, if not i'll have a go :tu

I think that you might be joining the gown ups now.

Your Baby will now have to leave where it was and end up on the floor.

After that, you will find that there are things that need doing.

It would probably like a clean environment.

It probably shouted in it's last home. Your job is now to make it stop Shouting for about 11/13 years.

Plenty of good Folk on this site that can help.

Don't think you need to split the crank cases to do the tension blade, just remove the barrels and away you go, it's held in place with a 10mm bolt. The biggest problem you may have is putting the bores back on, just take your time getting all the position rings in place (2 positions at a time) as you slide the bores down.
