  1. I've used hiflo for a while now, sometimes when I've been lazy I've even left it on for 2 years..O.o and just dropped the oil instead on the slabby. When I took it off last year it didn't look any different to when I changed it yearly, and it was used on the road and track days.I wouldn't recommend my behaviourxD just saying i think they're ok.

  2. Well got some carb rebuild kits from Japan, was home last week so started the carb strip down.

Stripped No4 carb and fizzy bathed, rebuilt with the shiny new parts and set the float height,3 more to do when I'm home again.New battery ordered today hopefully sorts the starting issue after petrol flooding over the old one killed it.Stripped off the harness and cleaned all the connections that I need for racing.Due to being overseas I won't make the Snetterton round as planned, so when I'm back at Easter I need to get the runt sorted before Donington, which will now be my first race meeting, and the first test of the bike full stop. The joys of trying to go racingxD

I may have to get me one of those there fancy magic boxes.

My 22 has a mahoosive hole in the power at 8K,

Well worth it,I've only got the p/v controller as I ran out of funds but they do a CDI/PV box that gets rid of the standard kit and is fully programmable and even has a quick shifter option I'm told they give better gains on the VJ22 than the 21.Can't believe the difference in the bike now

  4. Rode over to Sleaford Saturday to get the Zeeltronic fitted and set-up.Bottled doing it after looking at the multiple unfinished wires and not wanted to start chopping plugs off just in case I killed the electrics I got Sean at the Tuning Works to sort it for me.

I made the tea and did the strip down and rebuild while Sean did the leccy/tech jobs.

Nice clean install and the ability to unplug and replug the existing loom back in just in case the box is ever faulty.

Plug into Sean's laptop and set the parameters for valve opening(8,000 to 10,600rpm), quick test ride and all's now good with the motor. The ride home was a blast :D,the lightly tuned motor is now on song ready for Dyno day in July.I have a handheld programmer so can just plug in and set the rpm to valve opening % if I need to further fine tune, without the need to take a laptop with me.

Ran out of fuel on the way home as I was getting excited and missed the petrol station while on reserve....short push to the next one.

Even getting 29 to the gallon which is good for the grin factor and lifts the front end in 1st and 2nd gear from a standing start :tu

@Paulmyou should remember, it was you who started the post causing all the trouble, haha

@YoshiJohnnyit funny isnt it how what we all said at the time is happenening now.

Goes to show you cant tell readers what they should like, and you can't treat them all as inferioir to yourself. Especially when its the readers bikes that make up the content for your magazine.

In the spirit of united OSS I’ve cancelled my subscription to said mag today.....:tu...fuck em all :D

  6. As the runt let me down I went to Donington on the slabby so at least got some time on track, raced a few faster newer bikes beat a few of them and managed to outbreak myself and end up it the gravel trap to...thats 32 year old brakes for you and a distinct lack of talent....xD

Ordered a boat full of carb spares ready for the weekend, problem is when you try to save money it always comes back to bite you.

I'm off for a few days next week so plan to get the carbs off and strip and replace all the worn items, hoping the needle valves are knackered hence the fuel flowing issue.I know the float heights are ok as I checked them when I replaced the float bowl gaskets a few weeks ago.

If I can get this sorted I only need to work through the wire harness/connections/battery to understand why I have intermittent power and the runt won't turn over.

Also need to replace the bearings on the wets as these are knackered plus check the age and condition of said wets(plenty of tread not sure on how good they are)

Then if that's all done maybe she'll fire up and run then I can get a test in before my first race..:/

  7. Track day at Donny today should have been on the blandit but it won’t behave so took the slabby instead, practice is practice at the end of the day.

She ran like a dream and the Maxton forks are ace,had loads of brake fade last session and ended up heading into the gravel trap at Redgate corner managed to keep it upright and rejoined the track to finish the session  :)

  8. Forks set and back in today, drilled out the seized mudguard bolts and replaced with some stainless jobbies out my box of bits.

Tightened everything up and refitted the battery.Thought I should fire it up before I load the van for Donington tomorrow, you’ve guessed it the race bike curse has hit....fired up first time then went nuts revving like mad then petrol starts pouring out the vent hoses from the carbs... fucking bikes doing my head in now.

Turned off, fuel everywhere lucky I’m outside and not in the shed....cleaned it up and rinsed the fuel away from underneath the bike, and yes now I have no power,no idiot lights, won’t turn over it’s dead.

Looks like I’ll be using my road bike our I’ll lose my £120, so much for a track shakedown the thing doesn’t want to leave the garden.:(

Onwards and upwards I’ll do the track day on the slabby and sort the runt out another day only 6 weeks to the first race at Snetterton.

Not heard of slinky glide kits?

My leaky fork is the lh one, this has happened 3 times now, first time (both forks weeping) put down to old seals, second time (the next year) after replacing with OEM seals, leaking, replaced mid summer last year.

It’s a strange one all my leaky seals where OEM to.

wemoto sell slinky glide they make cables to as well as fork seal kits

  10. I don’t think there’s a service limit the manual states check outer tube for scuffing doesn’t give any tolerances but I’ve had the same problem on a few of my bikes(1100K,RGV and slabby )all had new seals left them to stand and had one of the legs weaping  oil even though the seals were new and genuine Suzuki maybe old stock.

Only leaking on one fork leg always the rh and in all cases hadn’t ridden them much before leaving to stand, maybe it’s a coincidence.

All my forks are 20 plus years old the same as yours and weren’t leaking before I put new seals in only changed them originally for piece of mind.

I only changed the weaping ones used slinky glide kits and not had the problem since the slabby has had them in for 3 years until recently.

  11. Other than take for MOT there's been little progress with the ET, now I'm going racing she won't progress this year, however there is a plan for 2020.

Need to sell my non Suzook and a few other things to get a budget..plus do more overtime etc

Full strip down is the job for this coming winter.

Frame will either be braced or a new style frame will be sourced from GIA/Saxon or similar.

Suspension will be taken to Maxton to get the thing handling better

Wheels currently are shiny slingshot items and will be replaced with something lighter.

Will be keeping the gold metal flake purple theme but will add matching period ET decals then get lacquered over if possible.

New loom to sort out the dodgy electrics and have been inspired by @Solcambsrecent upgrade on his Kat.

Plan for the engine is undecided but want to take her on track so would like the motor to be similar spec to the Thunder Kat(Dec 2018 Practical Sportsbikes Mag feature)- bloody expensive and maybe not achievable. I haven't dismissed the turbo idea either yet just need to see cost and usability for track days.

Other than that I want to keep her looking like an ET but want some power and track day handling..maybe I'm dreaming but you need a plan don't you.

So the shiny bling will go and will become more subtle in the future...more of a sleeper for those sunny days and days on track:)
