Its not an old skool 'trick' - everyone that knows, knows they are 750 gears - they are the ONLY high volume gear set!

16331-45000 on Fowlers shows it fits the GSX750 & 400

    16321-45002 seems to fit the GS500, 550 & GSX750

But strangely doesn't list the GS750 on either, even though it's the right part number, but that might be cos they don't even list the GS750 as a bike??

  2. My Recco's are as follows:

Buy a 22L fizzy tank, it'll pay for itself with all the other shite you'll wanna clean (although rubber parts do not appreciate it ;) )

JIS screwdrivers (Red/Black handled ones in Halfrauds)

Carb rubbers in a sealed bag sprayed liberally with silicon spray (push the air out) & left for at least 2 days.

Plusgas is a freeing agent, it won't clean parts that have already been free'd.

Always new Pilots/O rings/Jet needles & emulsions if you need/can afford them ;)

No, the black steel braided stuff they offer can be used for the same applications as for the 'normal' stuff that has external braiding. It's not just normal braided hose covered in plastic.

I've always looked at it & thought a braided plastic/nylon sheath isn't gonna last 5 minutes near headers. Mebbe i'll try some then ;)

Thanks guys,  looks like leaving a bit of the tape on is the easiest way to go.

I've also found that there are differing ODs on the braided hose.

Chinese stuff seems to be bigger by 1-2mm compared to Brit stuff.

Been down the road of cutting/fitting many times & have a stack of oversize braided hose!

Can't remember exact difference but we're talking 16.7 to 15.4 or summat like ;)

  5. You can get very small m4 or m5 rivets, just need to gentle drilling through badge.

As for D/sided tape, it will work, but only for so long.

The heat will soften & eventually dry it out, & travelling at speed will most likely see it fly off somewhere.

Ask me how i know ;)

Looks horrible to me,hope it didn't cost much if the turbo is knackered Rick(hopefully turbo is ok)

As said, needs work. But it's a good start/learning point for me.

Turbo is most likely shot, but i know they can be sourced reasonably cheap(ish)

  7. My first foray here & into the turbo scene. I pretty much know nothing about them other than they nearly always are on my cars!

So i acquired this lot that clearly needs work to sort it. And seeing as i haven't a clue, it will be dumped on my mate Pete Field to mess with.

Issues i see already are turbo has play, the plenum to turbo pipe has been welded on, & the wastegate header outlet was cut off?

If i'm wrong on any of this, then please correct me ;)  Oh yeah, afaik the engine is a std 1127 lump.

  8. I know exactly what you're saying, but again my point is about GS1000, GS750 & other  similar year models.

Being Suzuki as you well know, parts are very interchangeable.

That is why we know certain OP gears will work.

Its not the total number of teeth that is important ! Its the ratio that they give that matters - 34/33=1.03030 but 38/29=1.31034 so the latter turn the pump approx 25% faster - That's the important bit!

Exactly but i was making the point of what fits & that the teeth quantity need to be exactly the same or they'll wreck shit ;)

  10. And really you should be checking GS750, GSX750, GS400, GSX400 etc etc.

Most people hunt down the GS750 Oil pump gears, but although i've not tried others i'm fairly confident these other bikes could well work too.

There may be someone else out there who has actually tried others & prove me wrong, but as is, i'm willing to source others that are cheaper to find than the GS750 known "upgrade" option.
