  1. I have a draw thru project myself (efe), but now wish Id gone blow thru. I think from what Ive read that you get a much nicer ride set up with a blow thru, and a lot more power. I fell out of love my project. Im looking forward to seeing the new arm in your bike, I hope you do get it fitted.
  2. Your bike look's absolutely superb. I alway's used to think EFE's needed draw thru set up's for the oldskool look, but the blow thru set up you have does look the part. It will look even better with the longer arm.
  3. I've just booked a hotel for me and my Mrs, so I'm now looking forward to this. Roll on May!!!
  4. When I bought my first EFE many years ago (1998/99) I was told the engine was a 1260. I later had a conversation with Big CC racing who advised me the biggest you could go with standard liner's was 1230. Sadly the lad I bought the bike from was killed in an accident a week or two after I bought the bike so couldnt go back to ask more question's, but Im sure he mentioned that the motor had liner's from a Vauxhall Viva or a Datsun car of some kind??? Would a car liner be a possible option to reline the block??? It sounded a bit daft to me at the time, so who know's? Ive never had the head off the engine to measure. I still have it safely stashed away for a rainy day though.
  5. I'm sure a small can will be fine. I dont know what height you'll set the ride height on your bike, but hopefully higher than the height mine was. I think I had less than 3 inches clearance (ground to bottom of frame). By the way, I had a dynojet kit fitted which allowed the bike to run very very quickly. I ran K & N style filter's too.
  6. You can see the end of the megaphone is no longer round. lol. That pipe went off to a bloke called Alan who was building a race bike. I think?
  7. I used to run an EFE with a Star Racing pipe, with a Kwak ZXR400 USD front end. I dont recall any problem's at the front. It was the back end that caused me problem's. I used my EFE as my ONLY transport, 365 days a year. Rain, shine, snow, everything... One day sitting looking at the bike, I figured I could get it a touch lower. So out came the grinder, and I cut the lock up strut's down and then rewelded them back together. "That look's mega cool now" I thought. Helmet on, and off I rode. The first roundabout I came too, turning right, crunch noises from the megaphone end can thing. Oop's. So, rather than lift the back end up, I used to (seriously!) plan my journey's locally so that I could avoid sharp right hand corner's. If I planned it right, I could travel in a "square" type of route. Left,left,left..home. What a tit. A piccy of the said bike. Partly stripped (no back brake)and wearing an odd set of panel's. The pink paint stem's from getting sponsored from a sex shop. I havent a clue now how that came about.
  8. Thank you all for the replies. Yes, the cdi etc will be totally stock. Luckily we have a cool little electronic's shop not too far away, so I'll ask them about a suitable 100 ohm resistor. Im in the middle of a bit of a house rebuild/revamp and have thousand's (literally!)of bike mag's in boxes that my Mrs thought I should move out of the way to allow work to progress. These are currently stashed away along with a ton of other stuff and not easy to get at. A bit of a case of hard cheese I'm afraid. Somewhere in those boxes is a full collection of Streetfighter magazine's. I'll have the magazine with the remote article in it. I'm sure I can wait a week for the plastering to be done, and then I can spend a day flicking thru all the magazines. It's a funny old thing, but year's ago I couldnt walk past a newsagent's without going in to buy a magazine. These day's I hardly ever even look at what's on the shelf. I only seem to buy if I see something really cool on the front page. Thank you again chap's, you are all good egg's in my book.
  9. I fancy converting my project Blandit (turbo) from a keyed ignition to a remote control set up. Does anybody know if Id need to add a resistor to the remote circuit to enable it to work?? I recently had issues with a bit of a worn ignition barrel on my Busa and had a bit of a job as I didn't know that that ignition had an in built resistor. I'm hoping the Blandit may be a bit more simple? Any advice gratefully received.
  10. If you get stuck, I have (in the loft) a nearly new Star Racing Pro Pipe. I was keeping it for my own EFE but could be tempted to sell it. Possibly.
  11. The grinding discs look like the "shite" you can buy anywhere for your grinder, but honestly they are not. They just seem to remove the weld and do NO damage to your pipework. I was absolutely amazed when I tried one. They cost about £15.00 a disc but if you are doing pipe work and want a no weld finish are the best thing since sliced bread.
  12. Now, Im the first to admit my welding skill's are not tidy. lol Luckily I discovered a disc system from this company;
  13. Im not on my workshop PC at the minute, so dont have many pic's, but amongst other stuff I had a try at making some Mr Turbo style headers for a project. This look's like it was part way thru the build, but it gives an idea of how bend's can fit together.
  14. I love the design of the pro pipe's. They do look extremely good on an EFE too. Ive had a bit of a bash at doing pipe's myself. Im no expert, and would not pretend to be one. But I do think that as long as you can make each pipe the same length you should be able to create an exhaust that will work. I dont know what experience you have with pipe work, but I find that starting with pre-made bend's make's thing's easier. I dont know the cost's today, but I used to pay about £5.00 a bend for my stuff. 316L Stainless steel by the way. The bend's are available from the like's of here; http://www.pipecenter.co.uk/
  15. I was going to ask the same thing about the bell mouth. lol. I'll now be looking in toy shop's for alloy trumpet's. What frame are you putting it into??? This will be one to watch.
  16. The pic's are not the best, but they are the only one's I could find. I used an offset sprocket with a lip on the outside face. I machined a spacer type of thing that sat inside the lip with the other end machined to fit inside a bearing that was mounted on a machined part that bolted to the outer sprocket cover. The outer cover was a bit ugly, but it was made on an old wobbly mill. I need a new motor for my newer bigger and better milling machine, once thats sorted I could make something much nicer now.
  17. I'll keep on searching thru my photof*ckit account to try to find my efe outrigger pic's.
  18. It wasnt really a support though. I cant find pic's of the one I made for my old EFE,but it was similar in principle to this one. These pic's are for a wide wheel conversion (nothing to do with me),which show's the working's of what you may need.
  19. This was the first one I made. On an old wobbly milling machine. Hence the uneven decorative slot's on the cover. This was I believe for an oil cooled engine.
  20. Ive made a few of these. What I did was to lay the original sprocket cover over the alloy plate (with a sheet of paper stuck to it)and then dropped long bolt's (with a bit of dirt on the end's ) thru the original's cover to get my bolt hole pattern correct. Once done it was basically just drill the new hole's for mounting and cut the alloy out on the bandsaw . I' then make thing's pretty by sticking it in the milling machine. The last bit is not really needed though. I did on one of the cover's then machine a bearing holder and spacer piece that connected up with the round outside lip on an offset sprocket. Id need to have a search on my photof*ckit account to try to find some pic's. That may take some time!
  21. I was struggling back on page one to upload a pic of my Blandit but I think I may have done it now. I have less than zero interest in this bike at the moment. I keep on looking at it and think that if I change this,or do that.... it might become interesting, but at this point in time it's so bland that it's currently just sat in storage collecting dust. The pic was after the last time I had it in the workshop before taking it away and hiding it. It's an under construction thing, but Id be surprised if I do much more with it?
  22. My Blandit. I cant get pic to insert. back later!!
