Slabby or Slingshot?
Slabby shocks are different length. Those from a Slingshot have the same fitment but the 11-shock had more adjustability. Whatever’s left of that after 30yr of use is debatable.

Slabby sump is more shallow than a Slingshot, so you should be fine.

No point in restoring as it's already (slightly) removed from original. Also, being a 750, it won't be worth silly money so I'd go all-out with building something I like out of it.

AFAIK the Slingshot shock is the same, so that would mean the shock from a K1/2/3 will fit (my preference) as well as a first gen S1000RR
This is the ghetto-option. You could just as well get a proper one from Maxton/Hagon/Nitron and have it properly weighted etc.
