You can faff around all you like without taking the carbs off, but you'll never clean them properly until you do! Old rubbers usually soften up with some gentle heat and something the yanks call 'wintergreen,' whatever the hell that is - it seems to soften rubber? - if you can find it on our side of the pond!
Winter green is a muscle strain rub.
My dad used to sware by it.
Definitely available in UK

Heard and seen a lot of cracks but never heard of one going catastrophic.

Are you using bike specific oil?

Wheres the 25mm height come from ? We are talking of 14ml of oil. That wouldn't raise the level that much.
Thinking it is the oil level difference of 23mm between models

Does it matter if a HEL oil cooler is upside down on a GSXR-1100?

29's on a 1052 / 1127 / 1157 will be a bit too small when compared to std which were 36 or 40mm cv's. 29s were fitted to the GS 2v engines but they are rev limited when compared - if bored to 33mm they could make a torquey rev limited road bike!
Comparing slide and cv size is a bit apple and pears.
Still 29 bit small.
Had a set on 33 smorhtbore slides on a 1052 and it flies.

Why? Tuning in cold dense air gives optimum settings IMO, as when air warms it will be less dense so will run richer but fuel will also be less dense so virtually self correcting to a degree?
Probably depends more on the time of year you ride most.

I think the standard Kat would be painted.
Less protection in the raw from the elements.

Loctite can be very very good if it is applied correctly.
Lots of applications where metal is bonded with some kind of glue.
Even Aviation use lots of it.

At a guess I would say it 8mm
