Hi, yeah that's what I'm finding out as far as the carb sizing goes. I did contact Allens performance and he said it would be expensive to get them re-spaced to fit and not suitable anyway as they are downdraught. The engine I have is supposedly 1216 but not had the head off to check. Guess I'll have to look for a set of 39's.

Hi, yeah I was thinking that too but was going to try them anyway as they look soooooo damn cool ! They came with a load of ex-race bits from a zxr750 or zx7r so one of those may be my next project. Do you know what the recommended flatslides are for the GSXR1100L engine ?

Yeah, I knew that I was going to have to re-space them but was hoping they were the right ones. Guess I'll have to find another project for them to go on.

It seems your assumptions are correct. These were a set of carbs I bought in a job lot with some Kawasaki ZXR400/750 race parts. I was hoping to use them on the GSXR1100 engine. Oh well, shit happens ! I'll hang on to the carbs for a bit as I do have a ZXR750 with a 900 engine in it that they might fit, although I have doubts about that now as well. I'll just have to look out for a set of horizontal FCR's or Mikuni RS's. Cheers for the reply.

Hi All, OK, just been told that a set of Keihin FCR41's that I was going to put on the Harris GSXR1100 are not suitable ! Apparently I have a set of downdraught carbs and these are not compatible for the GSXR1100 engine. Doh !!! Can anyone on here confirm this please ? Or are there any suitable flatslides lurking about out there wanting a new home ? Thanks all.

Hi and thanks for the info. I get what you are saying about using an older charger and I think I have one of those in the back of the garage somewhere. Would you go for a lithium ion or lithium iron phosphate? seems like a lot of extra cash for the phosphate ones.

Its a Magnum 4. But it looks like it has the larger diameter top tubes the same as the superb yellow turbo Mag 4 that's on here somewhere. So I think it is quite a rare frame. With a Mag 4 tank and the usual Ducati 916 tail piece but I want to try and change this for something a bit smaller.

Hi Dezza, I will post photo's at some point but its in so many pieces at the moment as I'm trying to get some GSXR1000 wheels and forks in it. Oh and re-wire ! And maybe a different seat. Maybe a bit ambitious to do all in one go. The frame and engine numbers match and match the log book. I was a bit concerned as well but all seems well. And maybe the main reason its on a 'Q' plate and not using the donor bike reg number ?

Finally got round to it. It has screw and locknut adjusters. Not shims.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking . The cooler will be mounted up front, possibly in front of the forks so will be in good cooling air flow. cheers.

Hi All, Anyone know the smallest oil cooler I can get away with on a GSXR1100L engine ? Need to put the cooler in a different place on the bike and want to go smaller if possible. Whats the best and smallest after market cooler I can safely get away with ? cheers all.

Hi , thanks for the reply. Do you know what model the battery was that you fitted ? As it looks like the one for a bandit 12 is a bit smaller but I don't know if this a good enough spec for a GSXR1100 lump. Did it charge OK with the standard alternator and charging system ? cheers

Hi All, So has anybody fitted a Lithium Ion battery to a GSXR1100 road bike ? I need a new battery and was thinking of going lithium mainly for size and not needing to mount upright. Does lithium work ok on a road bike ? cheers all.

It has 1127 0n the barrels but not took the cam cover off.

Hi All, I've got a GSXR1100 engine Harris and the engine numbers have been changed to HP------, not the original Suzuki numbers. How do I tell what model of engine I have ? The clutch case/cover is stamped with '4000ml' if this helps ? What are any other identifying features ? Cheers all.

Yeah, I had some 3 ohm dynas so fitted them and it seems a bit better. It also had a dodgy immobiliser fitted that I took off yesterday and it seems better again but will find out a bit more tomorrow. Its getting there but I fear a new wiring loom is going to be on the shopping list. cheers

That sounds like what is happening as it has a really poor spark and it seems to be intermittent. I have some 3 ohm coils so will swap them over and see what happens. Thanks.

Hi All, Got a GSXR1100 engine that has an issue with starting and looks to be spark, or lack of, problems. Can someone please tell me the correct ohms rating for the coils on this engine ? It is running standard ignition ecu but dyna coils. The ones fitted are stamped 2.2 ohms but I'm not sure if they should 3 ohms ? please help.

Hi Jimbo, like the bike and the write up and just seen the bike in Practical Sportsbike this month. Niiiccee. I have a Mag 4 that is going through a bit of a resto and the PS write up says that your frame is a rare big tube version. How do it tell if mine is as well ? Are there some easy things to check ? cheers bud.

That's brilliant news. I am re-commissioning an engine an engine and ran it with the ignition cover off and quite a bit of oil was pissing out. I thought the worst , obviously. I'll put the cover back on and forget about it. Thanks for your reply , that's helped me loads.
