Mikemock Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Ive got a 1999 GSX750. Looks cool. But the tank is leaking. written off my paintwork. I worked hard on the tank with sealant and soldering and plating. But I failed. It was too far gone, and I hadn't realised. Ive had a look online and there is only one GSX tank in the whole world for sale, and the guy wants an arm and a leg for it. Is there any other tank from the same family that I can fit that will do till I get a proper replacement? In the meantime here is the bike, before it started leaking all over.... Quote
FJD Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) no - only GSX 750 and 1200 have this tank FWIY Edited June 28, 2018 by FJD Quote
Peterrr Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 Known problem for the Inazuma, the one I used to have had a new tank on it. To my knowledge the only bike with a tank like this is the 750 and 1200 Inazuma. How far gone is the tank? maybe a welder can fix it for you? Quote
Swirl Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 I did plan on cutting the bottom out of my mates and building a mould and making a inner tank, but we never got round to it, he got pissed off and sold it and bought a harley Quote
davecara Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 The smaller ET tank might not look too bad on a zoooma? Quote
Sten Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 (edited) As 'Peterrr' mentioned, the tanks are a weak point on these bikes. I read somewhere that using a pressure washer in the vicinity of the filler cap may be partly to blame. Personally, I would take a ride out to a well-stocked breakers, and ask if you could try a few of their tanks to see if anything fits. You can still buy new but obviously, they're very pricey!. Nice Geiger-inspired paint BTW Edited July 4, 2018 by Sten typo Quote
