Gearshaft movement?

Recommended Posts

1127 Teapot lump, went to trial fit the gear linkage & the shaft moves in & out by about 1cm!

When pulled out the outer circlip sits this far from the casing hole but can engage gears.

If i push it in so the circlip sits up agains't the seal, then it won't select gears! Certainly don't feel right to me?

Any ideas peeps, as if it moved in while moving, i'd lose the ability to change gear!

you can see it with the clutch still in

Can you tell me where the gearshaft & end pawl would locate? Plenty of options to put it in wrong tooth!

You can see the 2 tangs on the return spring (on the back of the toothed part of the selector shaft). They should go either side of the pin on the casing, they are currently both below it.

Locate the spring correctly and you'll be good.
