kermit Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) Hey my front brake brakes more and more when I use it and to day my front wheel locked when I was driving... luckily nothing big happened. But have never heart about it before. Some one know what to look for. It's a gsx 1100ef Edited July 23, 2015 by kermit Quote
vizman Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 try to give a little bit more info Kermit, eg standard/modified/replaced calipers... type of lines...pads...discs etc....how often used/serviced etc. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 changed the brake lever recently? Symptoms sound like a blocked return hole in the master cilinder. Riding = fluid warming up = expanding = more brake pressure, also when you don't need it. 3 Quote
kermit Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 It's original... I think it's expanding. Because it suddenly lock the front wheel. I could feel it did brake a bit when I didn't press the lever and then it became more and more until the front wheel locked and I went down... Quote
Guest YoshiJohnny Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 normally when the lever isn't pulled...the heat expansion pushes the fluid back into the master cylinder..Triumphs are notorious for not allowing this and I think as said your return is full of crudGive the master cylinder a thorough overhaul or replace itYJ Quote
vizman Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I had the same thing on my turbo bike, only it was the clutch master cylinder.....at first I thought it was epic clutch spin. I just swopped the master cylinder for another one. Quote
Richiemouse Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I agree with the others that it sounds like a blocked pressure relief hole in the master cylinder. Having just cleaned one out recently, I can tell it's bloody tiny so very easily blocked. Quote

kermit Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Ok i also thought it was the brakemaster. Now I just need a new generator cover(don't know if that's the name). It broke when I went down... The rest survive more or less... so pretty lucky... Quote
canamant Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 This happened to me once. I used to have a 5p piece in the front m/cyl on Scabby Racer 1 to get the piston closer to the bleed hole to the reservoir to reduce dead travel on the ever. When I changed the lever it must have been slightly different on the pivot and it just came on progressively when I was racing. I pulled to the side of teh track and handed it to the marshals who stood there scratching their heads. No way was I going to try and make the grass and go for a face plant. Quote
wraith Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 When your at it give the calipers a good clean and make sore the pistions are moving freely, as the rubber seals may of swolen and stopping the pistions from moving back. Quote
