wraith
A mate has just got a part done gs550 project barn find, thinks its a v reg? (No body work or v5). It needs new head stock bearings but they are the roller bearing type and we can only find on eblag taper bearings. Anybody know what year/models have roller bearing (ie ball bearings)? Thanks PS. The top and bottom part of the head stock where the bearing ring would sit is 48mm at top and bottom. Edited April 23, 2017 by wraith Added a bit Quote Link to comment
Gixer1460
Most people will swop from ball bearing to taper rollers - better load bearing and adjustment. Should be a straight swop? Quote Link to comment
dago
measure inside dia, outside dia and height then google bearing shop ,taper way better than ball, or search that site for year and model , Quote Link to comment
wraith
Yes good idea, but the top and bottom of the head stock is 48mm ID which seems to be a odd ball size? Tryed a bearing shop in Sheffield with no joy. Quote Link to comment
alexl
I got a taper kit to fit a slingshot stem to a 78 gs550 frame, comes with the correct races for the headstock. Just used allballs search facility to work out sizes and bought them cheaper locally. http://www.allballsracing.com/index.php/forkconversion You can work out the year from the engine/frame number - link below http://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/Suzuki_GS550E 1 Quote Link to comment
