  1. I got a taper kit to fit a slingshot stem to a 78 gs550 frame, comes with the correct races for the headstock.   2. Has anyone moved the standard shock mounts on a GS frame in order to get the correct shock angle but with more of a lift for the subframe.
  3. Just setting up the swingarm angle with the new sprocket sizes. Next onto the shock angle. I will aim for 45°

  6. I heard the crank is well over engineered and should be ok. But any advice on what to do would be good. Clutch is getting stronger springs. But again open to any advice on that too. It's all apart, so now is the time to make any changes.

Usd from a 91 gsxr M, but the discs are toast, looks like they have been attacked with a grinding disc. nothing else apart from slingshot discs seems to fit, but sticking with it as everything else seems okay. 5.5 with a 180 on the back seems to fit okay, need to brace the frame a bit and was thinking of shifting the top shock mount, but not sure now. standard 550 tank and tail, will make the seat base.
  8. Yes. Correct, a sort of mini Racefit. Gs550 frame with a gs550 bottom end, 650 top end taken out to 740cc. Need some nice carbs next, then exhaust, then.........
  9. Will be twin shock. B12 arm, gs motor. will set it up as you suggest, want to raise the back a bit , but not go too mad. Cheers
  10. Thanks for that, will give them a call. Do you happen to know the angle of the rear shock in relation to the swingarm, just to try to get the bottom eye in the correct(ish) position.
  11. Looks like it may just be slingshot only for discs. Anyone have any ideas where/if just the braking surface disc can be sourced from? Then I could drill out the old bobbins and replace just the outer.
  12. Just mocking up a GS frame with B12 swingarm and trying to work out where to position the lower shock mount. and need a bit of help with the standard shock lengths and the angle of the shocks. Will probably raise the rear a bit, but dont want to do anything too extreme. Thanks
  13. Not many slingshot discs around, so hoped some other models may fit, but not found anything yet.
  14. Are there any other models that can be used? (which are a bit easier/ cheaper to get hold of) I think B6/12 rear discs are the same but wasn't sure about the fronts as B12 are 320mm and slingshot are 310mm
  15. Any ideas on discs that may fit a 1991 M slingshot other than earlier later slingshot discs. The fronts are 310mm diameter, 22/23mm offset, rear is 240mm diameter, Zero offset. The ones that came with the bike look like they have been polished with a grinder! Or any good ways to sort them out.

  17. Bandit arms are a bit narrower at the frame pivot than the GSXR arms, best bet would be a B12 arm with top hat spacers. I think all the GS frames are about 227mm at the pivot point.

    Worked it out. My motor is a 1980 GS550 with points, so by rights it should be a (ND) and use the DS3-2 kit which i was about to buy, but for some reason it has (KD) advancer set up, so needs DS3-1. plenty of messing around, but good in the end. A pity as the Dyna S with Dyna coils was only $135 dollars shipped. anybody want it, its here. http://www.parts.suzuki-katana.com/sales.html

    Problem is I have worked out the engine is a 1980 model, but nothing stamped on the mechanical advance unit, so I cannot wok out if its a (ND) or the earlier (KD) retro fitted. I am pretty sure it should fit and work as its for a GSX750/1100. Thanks, thats helped.

    Dyna ignition

    This is a Dyna S ignition, which was originally for a GSX, so not sure if it would work, I am thinking it would, but didnt want to buy it before I am sure.
