boilerdude Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 are those the good cams for bandit? or does it have to be 89? Quote
Oilyspanner Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Yep - the 1988 cams are the better of the two, the 1989 exhaust cam isn't quite as radical - although 1100 cams are pretty much the same as the 1988 750J cams, very hard to measure any difference. Any of the 3 would wake up a B12 motor. Quote
boilerdude Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 as would the entire head off of such bike... https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/5924359711.html so i should probably go snag this I reckon. Quote
boilerdude Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 (edited) And I've heard somebody say take the bandit intake cam and put it in the exhaust? Then just run the gsxr intake cam. Is this true. Or is that just good enough if you dont have the exhaust cam. And should I just use the set of 88 cams? in the 88 head... Edited December 24, 2016 by boilerdude Quote
boilerdude Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 sorry a few questions. They also do the same effect for a 1052 motor yes? wake it up a bit? Quote
boilerdude Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 ok that guy isn't calling me back. so It's 89-90 for 1100's correct? round headlight slingshot cams basically is what to look for yes? and is the 1100 head also an upgrade? Quote
colinworth79 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 bandit and 1100 head design basic the same . 750 j/k head has smaller combustion chamber raising compression up 1 and raised inlet ports . 750 j/k cams or 1100 k/l cams lumpier than bandit . 1100m head totally different design with shims / 16 cam lobes Quote
colinworth79 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 dot head on the left bandit on right 2 Quote
boilerdude Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 awesome info. I did find an 89. https://allentown.craigslist.org/mcy/5898139266.html 5 hours away though. Quote
boilerdude Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 so the raised ports. whats that do? make it flow better? Quote
colinworth79 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 15 hours ago, boilerdude said: so the raised ports. whats that do? make it flow better? the 750 head had a smoother radius nearer the bottom of the inlet valves . No idea how much better it flowed or the power increase you expect with back to back tests between a 750 and 1100 head tho. Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Don't know the technical details, but I've stuck dot 750 head and cams on b1200's twice and both times I've got over 130 rwhp once Dyno'd and they both went like fek, used to be a really cheap way to get HP. last time I bought a complete engine with shagged gearbox for £50 Quote
boilerdude Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 yea I think you guys got a lot more of these things than we did. Either that or we just completely trashed and totalled and ruined them all faster. For a place the size of michigan there sure seem to be a lot of old school suzukis over there. Quote
boilerdude Posted February 22, 2017 Author Posted February 22, 2017 I just realized this is going to absolutely ruin what clearance I have for running bst38ss. Hopefully a pingel petcock will even fix the problem. 1 Quote
